Some photos of last week - some classes missing photos, but we’re back to a full timetable this week so hopefully manage to get everyone in action 🙏🏻☺️

A special mention to the new P1s who have stepped up to the primary classes - they’ve done so well in a time with so much change for them 👏🏻🏸🎾

Starting our term a week early for our Saturday and Sunday classes let me away guilt-free this weekend to watch my boys play in the first tournament of the season in Glasgow, and boy am I glad I made that call (some of my calls over the years have been questionable 🥴 but this was one of my better ones 🤣)

A bit of a full circle moment for Murray - some of you might remember my post a while back about young Max McCabe (see last two photos) and this weekend, Murray partnered Max in the U19 boys doubles. Looking somehow like they play together regularly, they stepped on court for the first time together and made it through to the final, being beaten by a very experienced pair and coming very close in the second set, being edged out 21-19. Considering Max was playing a year up and Murray two, plus the fact they hadn’t played/practised together before, I’d say it’s pretty exciting to see what they do at their next couple of tournaments ☺️🙌🏻 Yes, Murray has improved a lot in terms of play and physicality, but the most important thing for me? His attitude and overall approach being much more positive, and smiling on court more, and playing with Max certainly brought out the best in him 👏🏻

For Fraser, he had a tough draw against the 3/4 seed and was just edged out to 18 in the 3rd set - getting closer all the time 🙌🏻 and then went on to win the consolation singles (for all the kids who have lost in the 1st/2nd rounds) and beat a boy who’s beaten him the last two times he’s played him ☺️👏🏻

All in all, a mammoth effort from them and I’m just so happy to watch them enjoy competing and loving the game. I’m also very grateful to all our RB parents for their understanding so that I can be flexible in term dates so I don’t have to miss these moments 🙏🏻☺️

What. A. Week. 🔥👏🏻🎈🎾🏸

Absolutely brilliant to be back with most classes, from the teeniest of toddlers to our retirement classes, our primary kids to our ladies classes, it’s been fantastic and has left me feeling blessed and very fortunate to be able to do what I do every day.

I’ve missed a few classes with photos this week but will try to get everyone next week ☺️ and also a special mention to our new Wednesday retirees at Douglas - it was great to get another class up and running 🏸☺️

You’ll remember me posting about Brody before, when my feeding had to be pinpoint accurate to be able to rally, which was already super impressive for him to do at 3 and a half.

Fast forward 6months and having just turned 4 last week, Brody has improved a ridiculous amount with his weekly toddler class plus his weekly one-to-one session, and just check him out moving across the court to hit….

Moving his feet quickly towards the shuttle ✅
Judging the depth of the shuttle to return over the net ✅

I hadn’t planned to move onto this so quickly with him but he’s just a wee sponge and takes everything on board so well for his age 👏🏻🏸

Managed to do a hard thing yesterday, but was in such a supportive place thanks to Scottish Women in Sport and the amazing people who were there. The other speakers were so inspiring too 🥰

Following on from the Summers End Angus post I put on the other day, this one is a bit more special….

On Saturday at the festival, I had the absolute privilege of watching this superstar on the stage (not as much as I’d have liked as SuBo was on at the same time!).

Poppy came to Racquet Buddies at the very start with mum and dad, Faye and Len, and made the journey from Laurencekirk every week. During the time I had the pleasure of having Poppy in class, I watched her confidence grow week after week, and although it was in a sporting context at the time, to watch her perform with such confidence on the stage at the weekend was incredible. She’s an amazing musician and to watch her turning into such a confident and able young woman is a joy to witness - I was a wee bit emotional watching her for the short time I saw her, so goodness knows how her mum and dad and the rest of her family felt 🥹🥰

Well done Poppy - I can’t wait to see what the future holds for you 🙌🏻 Watch this space!!

Wow, what a night at Summers End festival in Brechin 👏🏻

So important to support these events while they’re on our doorstep as it’s the only way they’ll stay, and it did not disappoint 🙌🏻

Tide Lines were absolutely outstanding as always, could happily go to see them every week, great to see Campbell from Angus Alchemy who recommended the Cola Cube and Irn Bru concoction - ooft 👌🏻😋 We also may have acquired a rather large croc after winning him on the way out 🐊🤣

Brilliantly organised and looking forward to the rest of the weekend. Anyone else heading up??

And that’s a wrap on summer camps ☀️🎾🙌🏻

We’ve actually had the BEST time over the three weeks we ran for, and the kids have been absolutely amazing 🤩

We rounded things off with some work on serving, more Wipeout, lots of rallies, fun at the park with the boys making an impressive bridge in the sand, a pine cone from Louisa, friendships made, and the only flip side of three weeks of pretty much constant sun for our camps is possibly the worst trainer tan line I’ve ever had 🙄🫠 but a small price to pay, just no sandals for a few weeks 🤣

Thank you, thank you, thank you to everyone who booked in, who interacted with and shared our summer availability, and to the kids who have given us a fabulous few weeks.
Thanks also to Kirrin who was there every day, and Zoe, Murray, Fraser and Lois who have given up their time to make everything run that bit smoother 🙏🏻 A special wee mention to Debs for organising and cooking on the barbecue each week too ☺️
I feel like I should also thank my pal Windy Wilson Weather and Road Reports for ordering the best weather for our camps 😉☀️🔥

Summer 2026 over and out - now onto our term-time classes starting soon 🥰🙌🏻
