Hillcrest FB

Hillcrest FB Homes with heart. Communities with purpose. Futures with promise. We are unusual for a Scottish RSL in that we have a large and diverse group structure.

From housing and care to training and employment, we're committed to helping people live better lives. Hillcrest Housing Association was formed in 1967 and over the decades has continually evolved its structure to meet changing and challenging operating conditions. The purpose of operating as the Hillcrest Group of Companies is to be more than a traditional housing association by providing a range

of housing, care and wider role service. We are not only a large housing provider but also have a substantial care company, maintenance company and a training/employment arm helping people overcome barriers to finding sustainable employment.

💛 Today is World Su***de Prevention Day, a campaign dedicated to raising awareness, encouraging conversations about su***de, and helping create a culture where people feel able to seek support when they need it most.

We're proud that Kelly Christie, Senior Project Worker at Hillcrest Futures' Angus Mental Health Peer Support service, and Gemma Farquhar, Senior Mental Health Project Worker at The Beacon Angus, helped shape United to Prevent Su***de's Declaration at The Big Meet Up in March 2026.

The Declaration brings together people from across Scotland who share a commitment to preventing su***de, challenging stigma and building communities rooted in compassion, connection and hope.

These values are reflected in the work of our teams every day. Through services such as the Angus Mental Health Peer Support and The Beacon, we support people experiencing emotional distress to feel heard, connected and empowered.

We're delighted that Kelly and Gemma were able to contribute their experience and perspectives to this important piece of work.

Debbie Eltringham, Project Worker, and Chloe Walker, Senior Project Worker, from Hillcrest Futures' Perth Adult Drug and Alcohol Service were delighted to attend the HopeFest Gala Day at the Murray Royal Football Pitch as part of Perth & Kinross Council's Summer of Hope programme.

The event brought together a fantastic range of local organisations and partners to promote hope, connection and community, while providing plenty of activities for everyone to enjoy.

During the day, Debbie and Chloe supplied 39 naloxone kits and provided training and information on recognising and responding to an overdose emergency, helping to raise awareness of International Overdose Awareness Day.

It was inspiring to see so many people celebrating recovery and getting involved throughout the day. Well done to all the organisations, partners and attendees who helped make the event such a success.

To mark International Overdose Awareness Day, staff and people supported by Hillcrest Futures' Lauriston in Leith service spent an afternoon getting creative with a craft session centred around remembrance, hope and personal goals.

Using stained glass paints and fairy lights, they created illuminated wish jars filled with messages, memories and aspirations. Purple beaded bracelets were also made, with the colour purple recognised internationally as a symbol of support for those affected by overdose and a commitment to reducing stigma.

With plenty of tea, cake and conversation, the afternoon gave everyone the chance to chat, share ideas and enjoy trying something new. The finished jars and bracelets will serve as personal reminders of what matters most to the people who made them.

It was a pleasure to welcome Cllr Lynne Devine to our Well Bean Café in Forfar earlier this week to mark International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD).

Our Well Bean Cafés across Angus are more than just cafés. They are welcoming, stigma-free spaces where people can connect, access support, enjoy a meal, and be part of their community. Alongside informal support and social opportunities, our team also provides signposting, partner-led workshops, and one-to-one support.

To mark IOAD, our team offered Naloxone training, helping to raise awareness and equip people with potentially life-saving knowledge. Naloxone, including the nasal spray Nyxoid, can temporarily reverse the effects of an opioid overdose, giving valuable time for emergency help to arrive.

By creating safe spaces, building connections, and sharing practical skills, we're helping to strengthen and support communities across Angus.
