Dolphin 6 V 3 Douglas FT

After last week’s disappointing result against Boars Rock, we looked to bounce back against a Douglas team who were on the brink of extinction last week, however the new management team pulled a rabbit out a hat looking for a trick or 2.

The game was off to a great start with all the ball possession going Dolphins way. This did last long as a lack of concentration at the back a weak wrist by veteran goal keeper Tam Glen saw a great strike by the Douglas player to put them 1-0 up and giving them a bit of hope at the same time!

The Dolphins dorsal fins were up and the pressure was applied straight from the kick off and moments later after a scramble in the box Douglas find the back of the net again, only this time it was into there own net!! 1-1

Applying pressure straight from the restart with the midfield duo of Lennon “canna shut his mouth” Russell & Saul “em a baller” Tolan pulling strings like veteran violinists seen a great ball put to the feet of Mikey to put us 2-1 up going into the break.

The 2nd half started the complete opposite of how the first ended with some very questionable defending by the home side seeing Douglas get 2 very quick goals to bring them back into the game leaving very choice words in the air between the defence.

Again the proverbial rocket was shot somewhere not nice by the management team that had Glen “the tammy thief “Scott fearful for his place on the park and fired the ball into the Douglas net to make it 3-3 almost instantly.

We had a chance to go in front from a spot kick due to hand ball in the Douglas box after that but Mikey Murray was denied but the young Douglas keeper.

Things were quickly sorted out though with Shaun “made a mess at training” Williamson finally getting that chance in front of goal and putting it in the net for the first time in weeks to get us 4-3 infront!

Williamsons reward for his goal was the rest he had earned as he is taken off for a well earned breather and in steps non other than Darren “eh should of started” Thomson and boy did he deliver.

Memory’s were cast back to last Tuesday at Hampden Park but this time it was Finlathen Park. Saul drove down the touchline past the right back, whipped in a delightful ball for “eh should of started” to rise like a finally baked loaf and deliver a bi-cycle kick that would of had Scott Mctominay applauding, what a goal it was 5-3!!

He wasn’t done there when he was flying high on the park finding space to put the final nail in the Douglas coffin with a finish from an acute angle to put the Dolphin 6-3 ahead.

Not to be outdone by the Mctominay like goal he tried to be like another hero of Naples with an audacious Hand of Tommo for the hatrick but the referee had eyes like a hawk and spotted the black magic glove find the net which he quickly disallowed!

3 points and back up to the Dolly were the order of the day. As for the MOTM it was very close with 2 players in the running but for me Darren Thomson collects the accolade this week. A special mention to Saul Tolan who after a long spell out showed what he is capable of and I’m sure it won’t be long until he picks it up!!

Wee are currently on the lookout for a new goalkeeper as we were let down for the second season in a row days before the season starts so any goalkeepers out there give the page a message or Martin Mullen dean allan Steven Duncan or Billy Rattray also no time wasters please must have experiance in goal thanks 👍
