You’ve got to put in the work to become your vision 🎨

All too often I hear people talk about how they don’t have enough muscle, they don’t look good, are carrying too much body fat, can’t lose weight or they can never seem to get any bigger.
Well I’m here to tell you you can make the human body do anything you want with the right plan, discipline and consistency.

When I hear people say these things I ask them a couple of very simple questions relating to what their struggles are and instantly I give them a fix or an answer.
Improving a physique is actually very simple. But what you can’t do if you want to improve is continually do the same thing over and over expecting to get a different outcome.

If you aren’t happy with how you look there is a reason for that. You’re doing something or a number of things wrong.

If your car was misfiring would you keep trying to fix it yourself over and over wasting time and effort and getting nowhere watching it breakdown often or would you eventually put it into a garage and get it fixed properly. Yes it might cost a little bit of money but the outcome is you don’t need to waste your time getting nowhere anymore and you can drive around in a car that looks good and drives without any issues!

Stop limiting yourself and invest in YOU for once. It will be the best investment you ever make. More so than anything money can ever give you!

From hospital bed to stage in 3 days!

From being in agony and unable to walk on Tuesday night through Wednesday and ending up in hospital to then going on stage and getting a 2nd place this morning is one of my biggest achievements in bodybuilding yet! 🥈🙏

Today wasn’t about a placing today though. Today was about me proving to myself no matter what is thrown my way I’ll always find a way to make things work out for the best. When you can find that drive and determination in yourself you can achieve whatever you want to. You’ve just got to be brave enough to suffer at times but it’s worth it we when you come out the other end. If you don’t try you’ll never get.

The only disappointment today was I had come up with a new routine on Friday night and had a new posing song (nothing like putting yourself under pressure) which I was excited to display to finish the season with due the Scottish nature of the song I thought it would be fitting. What happens to me… they played the wrong song and I had to wing my routine 🤦‍♂️ The song was Paolo Nutini ‘Caledonia’ give it a listen it’s awesome 🙌

So that wraps up my 2025 bodybuilding Scottish season 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 every show I’ve done I’ve not placed out of the top 3 so I can’t complain 🥇🥈🥉

Consistency is always key 🗝️

Jasmine has been coming in for 2 PT sessions a week with me since January and in such a short space of time has completely transformed from a gym newbie who didn’t know much about gym equipment or how to train correctly to a fairly accomplished gym goer now!
Clearly her physique has improved greatly and there’s been a nice bit of weight loss and a good shift in body composition which is always the aim for all my clients. I don’t particularly worry about scale weight it’s what a client can see in the mirror which is the most important thing in my eyes. Why does the scale weight matter if you’re happy with how you look?

Jasmine is also starting up online coaching with myself this week at her request as she realises that to continually improve and get the most out of her efforts in the gym she needs to get her diet on point. We all know the saying of you can’t out train a bad diet. Well never a truer word has been spoken.
So as of this week we will be doing weekly checks in and I will help and support her with her diet, training and anything else fitness related to help her achieve that summer body she wants. Things are going to move at a much quicker rate as of now due to this.

UKUP Show day round up

So a 🥈 & 🥉placing for me. I was happy with how I looked and I’ve never been as big and full as I was on stage for this show and I thought it was a good look for me. The funny thing with bodybuilding is you can bring your best look and the judges on the day decide they prefer a different look. Whether thats someone being a little more tighter or a bit fuller or the ideal scenario for us all. Bring both 🤌

I also dipped my toe into an open bodybuilding class along with classic physique for the first time ever. I’ve stayed away from doing this previously as I’m not a fan of people jumping between categories. I think you should mainly stick to what is best suited your physique. But with the added size I’ve added this year I want to see how I’d look and I was pretty happy with what I saw from the pictures. I also got to wear a different colour of trunks for a change 🩲😝

Feedback from the judges was I looked superb and it was a close show. My main goal is to always place at every show I do as I believe I’m at that level to do that now and if I can get some wins along then way even better.
Instagram is a platform for me to share my bodybuilding/gym journey with everyone as there’s lots of people who maybe don’t understand bodybuilding so it’s nice to be able show them what it’s all about if they are interested.

While I’m happy with how I look there’s lots of things I can still improve on and I try and do that each day in the gym and each time i compete. We’re all chasing that never ending pursuit of perfection that’ll we’ll never reach but I’m up for the challenge anyway! The journey should be the fun part as you watch your physique and mindset grow 💪🧠

Think it into existence 💭🏆

Do the everyday little things consistently and soon they will create a vision that you have dreamed of. That’s goes for anything you might do. Put the work in and 9/10 you will get your reward. The biggest reward you can ever achieve is knowing you worked your ass off and gave something your all. Nobody can take that away from you and the sense of fulfilment and pride you will get from that will be unmatched. That’s how you level up in life 🫡

I always hear people making excuses or putting stumbling blocks in the way of them achieving their goals. When the biggest stumbling block is actually themselves and their mindset. Change your mindset = change your life 🧠

Appreciate the things you’ve got and the things you can do 🫶

I’m in a fortunate position that I can pursue a passion/hobby of mine and I do not too bad competitively with it.

I’m happy with the physique I’ve built over the years and I’m happy in life. Do you you honestly need anything more? We always want more of course but don’t ever forget how far you’ve come or under appreciate the things you have in your life. If you can do that then you’re going to live a pretty fulfilled life.

Ask yourself this one question today. Are you happy and satisfied with life?
If you answer ‘no’ then what can you do to change that? What things can you change to make yourself happier? 💭

3rd place at PCA Scotland today 🥉🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
Which I’m surprisingly really happy with! 😁

I obviously wanted the 1st place but I also understand bodybuilding and not every show will go the way you want it to. I was pretty happy with the look I brought today and was much fuller and bigger than my previous show which is exactly what I wanted. I still think I can improve even more though. I think every show is an opportunity to get better and that’s what I seem to do regularly.

But a placing at any show is always an indication you’re on the right track and a nice reward for your efforts.

As alway PCA delivered a great show and I kept up my record of always placing when doing PCA Scotland. My record is

2024 🥈
2025 🥉

Now to enjoy some food and think about what my next plans are 💭

This is how you gain muscle without putting on pointless crazy amounts of body fat!

Gerry is sitting 8.7kg up and was as high as 12kg up at one point from the first pictures from last July on the left but we’ve started his diet phase a couple of weeks ago and I can’t wait to see the size and muscle he’s added since late last year. It’s clear as day there’s been a lot and the measurements back it up.

12th of November we started Gerry’s gaining phase and look at the increase in body part measurements below. It’s been a monumental effort in such a short space of time and it’s because he’s consistent and loves training hard now I’ve shown him what training to failure truly is.

Chest 37 - 43.8
Legs 20 - 23.5
Arms 13 - 14.9 (All measurements in inches)

Bulking/gaining photos are never going to look as impressive as photos when someone is lean but I’d say this phase is the most important part so you can really reap the rewards of more muscle and shape to your physique when you lean down.

Phenomenal effort by Gerry and the next 10-12 weeks will be a lot of fun watching his body transform and looking awsome in time for summer 😎

This is 40! 🥳

Thought I’d do a post to mark my 40th birthday. No pun intended 🫠

I always hear people say when is it too late to start at the gym or they wish they had started the gym sooner. Well you can’t change the past but what you can do is control your future and how you want to look and feel going forward no matter what age you are.

At the grand old age of 40 I’ve never looked or felt better and that’s down to living my life as stress free as possible. Don’t sweat the small things in life they are not worth your time or energy. I eat ‘treat/junk’ food in moderation along with healthy options. We’ve all heard the 80/20 diet. Well guess what it actually works.

I think the take home from this post goes to show you that age really is just a number and if you want to look good at any age you can!
