Itโs cup action on the road for The Seasiders today, with a trip to Ayrshire to take on West of Scotland League Premier Division side Darvel at Recreation Park in the second round of the South Challenge Cup.
Following last Saturdayโs league victory over Edinburgh University, As always, Darren Smith and his coaching staff have had the lads working hard in training this week ahead of todayโs big cup clash, with morale high in the camp after a strong start to the season.
Captain Grant Thomson, who missed last weekendโs win through injury, returned to training on Thursday ahead of todayโs match.
Darvel, managed by former Rangers fan favourite Nacho Novo, currently sit just above mid-table in the West of Scotland Premier Division after winning three of their opening five league matches. Their most recent league outing came in mid-August, when they edged to a 3โ2 home victory over Glenafton Athletic. This afternoonโs fixture will be the first meeting between the two sides, so it should prove to be an intriguing match.
With next Saturdayโs big Scottish Cup tie against Preston Athletic at New Countess Park also on the horizon, The Seasiders will be looking to keep the momentum going with another good result today.
