Our Club Ambassador, Charlie Forster, tees it up at the English Trophy at the Caversham Golf Club in Reading, from 10th to 13th September, in what has been a standout rookie season on the HotelPlanner Tour. Charlie is now aiming for a spot at the Tour’s season finale in Mallorca.

If you’re free over those four days, we’d love to see Basingstoke members out supporting Charlie at the Caversham Club, giving him that extra edge as he goes for it.

Maintenance week is one of the most important weeks on the golfing calendar.

This week, the greenkeeping team have been carrying out essential work to protect the long-term health and performance of our playing surfaces.

The greens have been double hollow cored using 10mm tines at 40mm intervals and to a depth of 45mm, before approximately 80 tonnes of sand was applied across the course.

It’s a significant operation, but one that plays a vital role in keeping our greens healthy, firm and consistent throughout the year.

Here’s why we do it:

• Relieves soil compaction
• Improves the movement of air, water and nutrients
• Reduces thatch build-up
• Encourages stronger, healthier turf
• Helps prevent turf disease and stress
• Maintains smooth, firm greens in the long term ⛳️

A huge amount of work goes into maintenance week, so a big thank you to Jake and the greenkeeping team for their efforts – and to our members for their patience while these vital works take place.

A fantastic week for Team Basingstoke!

a huge congratulations to Team Hampshire’s U12/U14 boys, who secured a fantastic 7.5–4.5 victory over Kent Golf at Southwick Park Golf Club. A brilliant team performance on a firm and fast course, with superb greens, and a big thank you to the team at Southwick Park for hosting, as well as all the parents and supporters who cheered both teams on throughout the day.

Congratulations to our very own Gemma Burgess, who is making a brilliant impression at the Walton Heath Trophy, currently sitting second after two rounds on 8-under par. We’re incredibly proud to see one of our members competing at such a high level and wish her the very best for the final rounds.
