SUPPORTER UPDATE
Following the Council’s recent statement, we want to provide further clarity on the position.
Throughout the 2025–26 season, the club repeatedly raised concerns regarding the operation of the agreement and sought meetings to address a number of issues affecting the club’s ability to operate sustainably. The council refused to engage and delayed meeting ALL season long.
These included the loss of key income streams set out within the agreement — specifically the use of the bar and food and beverage operations — as well as a prolonged period without practice ice at the start of the season.
Despite these challenges, the club continued to fulfil its commitments and has, to date, paid over £89,000 to the Council under the current arrangement.
The current position includes a disputed balance, reflecting the issues raised throughout the season and the operation of the agreement in practice.
Our focus throughout has been on reaching a practical and sustainable solution that reflects the realities of the season just passed.
We remain committed to finding a way forward that allows the Solway Sharks to continue operating in Dumfries.
Should a viable agreement not be reached, we confirm that all sponsorship and season ticket funds will be refunded in full.
We appreciate the continued support from our fans, sponsors and the wider community, and will provide further updates in due course.
