Supporting a brilliant cause 🏌️‍♂️⏱️

We want to share a fantastic fundraising effort from one of our own members, David King, alongside Jeff McKean, as they prepare to take on a massive challenge for charity.

From 22nd to 23rd June, David and Jeff will be attempting a Guinness World Record at Thornhill Golf Club, playing golf non-stop for 24 hours solid. To break the record, they need to complete over 184 holes.

They are taking on this incredible feat to raise vital funds for Prostate Buddies D&G. The charity offers essential support, advice, and a safe, open space for men and their partners across the region who are affected by prostate cancer.

Every single penny raised stays right here in Dumfries and Galloway to help raise awareness and support local families.

There is nothing quite like the links as the sun starts to go down. The shadows lengthen, the breeze drops slightly, and the course takes on a completely different character.

New to our page? Welcome to Southerness Golf Club.

After an incredible couple of weeks hosting the country's top amateur and professional talent, we wanted to say a huge welcome to everyone who has recently followed our journey.

Designed by the renowned Mackenzie Ross and opened in 1947, Southerness was built on true championship links land right on the edge of the Solway Firth. Because of our unique coastal location, the course offers a genuine test of traditional links golf, complete with fast-running fairways, penal bunkers, and our famous coastal breezes.

Tomorrow we begin an incredible week of golf as we welcome the field for the Scottish Women’s Amateur Championship.

It is a privilege to host such a talented group of players here at Southerness. The course is ready, the stage is set, and we are looking forward to seeing some of the best talent in the country take on the challenge of our links.

We wish every competitor the very best of luck. It promises to be a fantastic showcase of the game, and we cannot wait to get started.
