Phase 1 of the JDC Foundation Tour is done; this was my first experience of doing a tournament this big, playing against some excellent players from all over the country.

I feel that for my first go I did quite well, once I got over my nerves; I showed that I am more than capable of competing at this level. I came 67th out of 263 players so not bad for my first tour and was 6th for the highest averages over the last weekend. Hopefully in Phase 2 I can do even better.

I played well over the weekend, I didn't get the results I wanted but I was happy with my form and that I showed that I can play under pressure and fight when I go behind.

We have a break now until July, I have come away with some positives but there are still things I know I need to improve on.

I would like to say thank you to my Dad, Lee Gripton and my Mom Elizabeth Gripton for giving up all their time to take me to Bristol on these weekends, it costs lots of money for me to do these events and I do appreciate everything you do for me.

A good tournament at the Copthorne yesterday. In the group stage I topped my group only dropping 1 leg.

Played well in the last 16 then in my quarter final beating a good player Jack Turner then had a tough match against another good player, Codey Exall in the semi final. Went 2-0 up then Codey fought back to level it but I managed to get over the line into the final.

Didn't play as well in the final as I would have liked but did take out 120. Overall it was a good day I don't feel like I played my A game but to get to a final was a good achievement.

I want to thank my dad Lee Gripton and my mom Elizabeth Gripton who give up alot to take me to darts especially the weekends in Bristol. I really do appreciate everything you do for me.

Last week was a tough week. Played in a vault on Wednesday and was in a very hard group. I lost 1 game with an 81 average. I came bottom in my group but I was happy with how I played, I finished with an overall average of 72 it was a tough group.

Played another vault on Thursday. Found myself in another tough group. The standard in the Vaults lately is really high and a big challenge for me. I played some good darts but missed out on a quarter final in the last group game.

Fridays vault I made the quarters, played some good darts but not enough to go further.

Another vault on Sunday didn't play my best but topped my group & made another quarter final. I wasn't happy with how I played & was disappointed that I haven't made it past the quarter final yet in vault 17.

Been practicing well, playing for my team tonight hopefully I can play well and we can win 🤞🎯🎯

I want to thank my dad Lee Gripton and my mom Elizabeth Gripton who give up alot to take me to darts especially the weekends in Bristol. I really do appreciate everything you do for me.

Had a weekend in Bristol at the JDC Foundation Tour. Was a mixed weekend. Saturday was my best day so far got to the top 16 and was unlucky to lose 3-2. Overall it was a positive day I had some double trouble but managed to get 3 points which I was happy with.

Sunday wasn't as good only won 1 game and again my finishing let me down. There are a lot of positives to take from this weekend I played some good darts, scored well but know I have to improve on my finishing. The biggest positive was that I didn't feel nervous and wasn't shaking when I was throwing, which is a major win.

The last events of Phase are at the end of May hopefully I can improve again. Back to practising now especially my doubles 🎯🎯

Only doing 2 vaults this week, Monday I was at Hotshots, did not play as well as I would have liked, didn’t get out my group, won 2 out of my 5 games so was a little disappointed.

On Tuesday played for my team, felt that I played really well, scored well but just couldn’t seem to hit the winning double, we lost 5-4 in a really close match.

Did my 2nd vault at Bostin on Wednesday and was really pleased with how I played, had an overall average of 71.82 and a first 9 average of 82.52. I came second in my group, the only group game I lost was to Ryan Hardman who is a good player and tough to beat. Coming second in my group meant that I played Michael Powell in the quarters, I lost 3-2 but played really well, I pushed him all the way and to a player of Michael’s ability I think that this is something to be proud of. I had two 15 dart legs, one in the group stage and then in the quarters. I was really pleased with how I played under pressure and kept my cool all night and did not let my frustrations show, this is something I am really trying to work on and I think that I am managing to control it more.

I feel that the vault last night was excellent practice for the JDC this weekend and I hope that I can take the form I found to the Foundation Tour.

I want to thank my dad Lee Gripton and my mom Elizabeth Gripton who give up all their time to take me everywhere. I really do appreciate everything you do for me.

Bit of a mixed week for me, didn’t have a good start to the ADC Vault 17 on Monday, didn’t play well and felt that I didn’t do myself justice at all.

Played for my team on Tuesday at Parkes Hall and played well, we was unlucky to lose 5-4. Another vault on Wednesday, felt that I played really well, came 2nd in my group but when you are in a group with Dan Nicholls that’s a good achievement. Played a very good player in the Quarters in Tom Garfield, lost 3-2 but was happy with how I played and did have darts to win the game.

Did another vault on Thursday, played some good darts in the group stages, came 2nd in my group behind Mark Zambra, again when you are in a group with Mark, I was pleased with 2nd place, came up against Brian Dolman in the quarters but didn’t get going at all and lost 3-0, was a little disappointed in how I played against Brian as I know I can do better.

Friday was another vault, was happy with how I played in the group, topped my group with an average of 66.96 winning all my group games, did not play well in the quarters, lost out to another good player in Mike Breckell.

Sunday we travelled down to Hangar 61 in Bristol for the WDF England Youth Grand Prix, it was a long day and I think that I played the best I have played in Bristol. I won 5 of my group games and qualified for the knockouts, played an Advanced Tour player in the knockout and lost 2-1 was disappointed as I had a really good second leg to level up the match but couldn’t find anything in the last leg.

Was an extremely busy week, back to practice now, there are a few things I want to work on.

I want to thank my dad Lee Gripton and my mom Elizabeth Gripton who give up all their time to take me everywhere, especially driving to and from Bristol for the Grand Prix and JDC Foundation Tour. I really do appreciate everything you do for me.
