Our banner has been returned! 💜

Firstly, we’d like to say a huge thank you to everyone who shared our post, sent messages of support and helped spread the word. The response from our local community has been incredible, and we were especially touched by the very kind offer to replace the banner free of charge if it wasn’t returned.

Scouting has been part of Gornal’s story for well over 100 years, and our Scout Hut has stood proudly on Cotwall End Road for the last 42 years.

Our banner may have been deliberately removed, but one thing is absolutely certain… we’re going nowhere!

If anything, this has reminded us just how much support there is for Scouting in our community.

Every week we give young people the opportunity to learn new skills, build confidence, make lifelong friends, experience adventure and make a positive difference in their community. That’s what really matters, and no missing banner will ever change that.

Thank you for standing with us. Your support means we can continue to grow, welcome more young people and keep making a difference for many years to come.

Here’s to the next 42 years… and beyond. 💜⚜️

A friend has lived on Longfellow Road for many years and never knew the Scout Hut existed! We put our new banner up for our Open Day on Saturday and by Tuesday morning it had been stolen.
Don’t let us become ‘a secret’, spread the word, we’ve been on Cotwall End Road for 42 years and plan on serving our community for many more 😊

STOLEN

Sometime on the night of 13th/14th July, our 1st Gornal Scouts roadside banner outside 1st Gornal Scout Hut on Cotwall End Road was taken.

It’s incredibly disappointing, as the banner helps local families find us and lets the community know we’re here for young people.

This has been reported to the police.

If you’ve seen it, know where it might be, or have any information, please get in touch with us.

We’d really appreciate everyone sharing this post to help us spread the word and hopefully get our banner back.
