What an absolutely fabulous day we had at the TFSS 2026 Championship Show yesterday.
We took along Reggie (Afan Reggie) and Darcy (Islyn Mammamia). Reggie for the ridden classes and Darcy for in-hand (we have yet to work ourselves up to taking two ponies under saddle and organising two of the kids on the day).
What a fabulous show! It was so friendly and relaxed and we ended up entering twice the amount of classes that we originally planned. Everyone was extremely supportive, even in the face of the disaster that was Darcy’s plaits. Thank you so much to the lady that helped out and redid them for us. We were so grateful.
Both ponies were absolutely impeccably behaved all day long. Couldn’t be more pleased with them both.
Darcy won Best Coloured, which was originally her only planned class for the day, but we ended up having fun and going into the Judges Choice where she came 2nd, then we decided to take her into in-hand Mountain and Moorland when the class was re-run at a later time due to no one making it to the original morning slot due to a traffic incident holding everyone up. This meant a hasty de-plaiting outside the ring!
She didn’t get anywhere in this class due to having the top of her tail pulled, but we hadn’t expected her to having turned her out as a show hunter for the day, but it was good to go in and support the class.
After the very hasty RE-plaiting, Darcy went into the Coloured Championship. She didn’t get anywhere in this, but I couldn’t have been more pleased with her all day.
Reggie kicked his day off with Ridden Mountain and Moorland where he came second, entered the Lead Rein pony class and won, jumped straight into in-hand Mountain and Moorland, where he came 2nd.
Then came the championships where he got Champion in-hand M&M, along with the best body-weight score 🥳 Then he got Reserve Champion in the ridden M&M, achieved another best body weight score award, before going in the Concours de‘Elegance and getting 2nd.
He qualified for both the Supreme in-Hand Championship, and the Supreme Ridden Championship, but he didn’t place. It would have been a huge ask for that, though, because there were some absolutely fantastic horses in the rings. But we couldn’t be more proud of our Reggie who performed his socks off in no less than eight classes when he’d originally been entered in only two. What a trooper he is.
With his body score awards, Reggie can now go on to be judged by a panel of judges at the Royal International!
Darcy was pretty much spot on with her weight, but just a tad too much around the middle. As a woman, I can sympathise, poor girl only has to look at a cream cake and it goes straight on the old tub!
It really was a fabulous day all round.
