Today we hosted Wombourne Allstars Dragons in our fourth Trophy group match at the Black Country Wellbeing Centre

Another tough assignment against a higher division team awaited and the team started off excellently holding the opposition off well for the majority of the first half. A well taken goal for Wombourne close to half time left the young robins one goal down at the break.

After half time Dudley came out roaring, a magnificent solo goal from TJ levelled the scores which was entirely deserved on the balance of play.

Wombourne upped their play and four unanswered goals resulted in an unbalanced final score. However Town should be extremely proud of themselves today more than matching their opposition

Special mentions to TJ on his goal ⚽️ and EK for several saves, one in the last minute which was unbelievable 🧤

POTM goes to JZ who was a star today especially in the second half after taking on half time team feedback himself and showing what he is made of. Well done Josh 🏆

Next week we host Sedgley White Lions North in our final trophy group game.

Sooo! Last weekend, one of our coaches, scott, took part in the halesowen town's annual charity match.

Some of the lads came out to support their coach in between the stick! (more like torment 🤦‍♀️🤣)

Non the less, coach Scott was happy he kept his clean sheet and happy to take part in an amazing cause! Everyone at dudley is very proud and cant wait for next time!

Dudley Town North made the short trip to Wrens Nest this morning for the second of our trophy group games.

Playing a team three divisions higher than us showed from the off as we were on the back foot from the first whistle. After keeping the opposition out for the early part of the game a well worked goal put the hosts in front. The young robins reacted well and earned a penalty which LM duly despatched to bring us level. Unfortunately two further goals from Wrens Nest left us behind at half time and facing an uphill task in the second half.

Dudley continued to face a stern test in the second half but battled hard against our higher division opponents. A couple more goals were answered by a late ‘goal of the match’ from LM to put some respectability on the result that could have been closer but for a couple of excellent saves by the home keeper.

Not meant to be today, but the young robins can keep their heads held high staying competitive with another higher division team.

POTM award goes to KW who held his own in centre midfield and enhanced his passing play which the coaches asked before the game. Well done KW🏆 Special mention to FD who was tenacious in defence, putting his body on the line with several blocks and clever defending throughout the game.

Next week we return home to take on Sedgely White Lions Blue in another tough trophy game.

Dudley kicked off the trophy group weeks by entertaining Halas Haweks South at the Black Country Wellbeing centre today

A tight start to the game with the Dudley defence doing well to contain the exciting wingers of the opposition. Dudley took the lead with a breakaway goal from KB but were instantly pegged back after a well taken goal from Hales leaving it all square at the break.

Dudley continued where they left off in the first half with some clinical finishing from LM racing us into a two goal lead. A period of concentration and containment followed with the back four keeping a lid on the opposition attack. A couple of fine saves from EK kept Dudley in the lead until a second Hales goal meant a nervous last 5 minutes.

A fourth goal from LM settled those nerves resulting in an opening trophy group win for the young robins.

Congratulations to LM on his hat trick ⚽️⚽️⚽️ and KB on getting the goal scoring started ⚽️

POTM award goes to TH who covered every blade of grass playing in a new holding midfield position. Epic performance on a day we played a team from a higher division than us! Well done TH 🏆

After a return to winning ways, we move onto next week when we travel to Wrens Nest for another tough trophy game.

Dudley made the short trip today for an early morning fixture against Wombourne Allstars Bears

Despite Dudley starting well, Wombourne raced into a two goal lead in the first 10 minutes, one a fortuitous own goal. Dudley produced one of their best performances this season and pulled a goal back from a well worked piece of play before the break.

Another own goal and speculative long range strike saw Wombourne extend their lead. Despite several openings, we couldn’t find that cutting edge to get back into the game.

Really tough on the kids today, all the work being put in on the training ground is starting to show in games and they should all be proud of their performances.

POTM award goes to AH for a monster of a defensive display, seeing continued improvement week in week out. A special mention to TH whose passing display in the first half continued her fine performance in training this week.

The young robins now move into the trophy tournament weeks, matching up against several higher league teams. We’re looking forward to the challenge!

Dudley returned to our home patch after a few weeks on the road to face PS Olympic South in the reverse fixture from last Sunday

Another tight game with both defences controlling the attacking threats well. PS Olympic took a first half lead with a well taken goal from a corner. Dudley pressed to level but the opposition keeper pulled off a top class save from a close range Dudley free kick. At the other end, a couple of point blank saves from EK kept the game close as we headed into the break.

Dudley came out of the traps quicker in the second half and duly equalised with a clinical finish from LM. A second goal for PS Olympic from a dubious free kick call put the visitors back in front and despite several half chances the team couldn’t find the equaliser. Another couple of quality saves in the second half from EK kept us in the game.

POTM award goes to EK 🧤for a clutch of fine saves throughout the game keeping the team alive right till the end.

Defeat today after three successive wins brings the young robins back down to earth….we aim to bounce back next week when we travel to Wombourne before we move into the trophy tournament weeks

The young robins travelled to Stourbridge today to take on PS Olympic South in near hurricane conditions.

The first half was tight with a few chances created by the team. On another day we would have gone in ahead at the break, but a combination of some good saves by the opposition keeper and some wayward finishing resulted in us going in level at half time.

Playing with the wind second half allowed Dudley to play with more gusto with the deadlock finally being broken shortly after half time. A second goal near the end sealed the win for the team to make it three wins on the bounce. A couple of quality saves from EK resulted in another clean sheet 🧤

Congratulations to LM on his two goals today ⚽️⚽️

POTM award goes to KS for his all round hardworking performance, keeping the defenders occupied all game and was unlucky not to notch a goal late in the game due to an offside call.

Back on our home patch next week, hoping to keep our winning run going

We travelled to Cradley Town Colts today on a pitch that made the game difficult for both sides to to play their best football

Another sloppy opening for Dudley saw us behind early on in the game, before three well taken goals saw us ahead at the break

A Cradley Town equaliser straight after half time stunned the young robins, however the team battled well eventually putting the game to bed with three goals in the last 5 minutes of the game.

Well done to all the kids for keeping going in difficult conditions. The Cradley keeper made some great saves keeping the game a close battle.
