Hello from snowy Fernie B.C. Canada,

As many of you know, I left last year to spend time with my family in Canada. At that time, I wasn’t sure when I would be back in Drymen, or for how long, but I now expect to be here for the foreseeable future. I therefore need someone within the club to take on admin duties, here on our FB page.

Ideally someone who can upload pictures and information about upcoming competitions, results, etc. I can only really post, if I am fed the information from members, and as you can see, that hasn’t happened for some time. I feel it’s important to have this page and hopefully encourage new members to come along, which I’m glad to say, happens quite often.

If you think you can help, please get in touch via the messenger button or, if you have my details already, directly. I am still contactable through FB and WhatsApp.

Sadly there are no bowling greens near me, with the nearest being in Calagary (3 hr drive) or Kimberley (1hr 22min), so I will have to wait till I come home in the summer for a visit, and hopefully get a few ends played on Club night with you all.

John informs me that the opening will be on the 25th or 26th of April, and he will confirm shortly which day and what time. Mean while, I wish you all a great season and hope the sun shines for you all.

Best wishes, Gillian

A wee throwback to the opening day back in 2017 when the then President, Ellen Brown, and her grandson looked on as her daughter Eleanor opened the green.

Wishing everyone a good 2025 season.

How rare to get 2 good days in a row, so it was good to take advantage today and have a small club competition.
We played 3 games of 6 ends with the winners consisting of Skip- Gillian Munro, lead -Nan Burgoyne, 2nd -Dorcas McKenzie.
Afterwards we had a lovely buffet meal and a small raffle.

Don't forget we have our friendly against Cambus next Saturday and the closing of the day after. Please give names to John McKenzie, if you're available.

We had 4 members taking part in the Callander Bowling Club Open Mixed Triples today. We had a full team consisting of Gillian Munro, Stevie Dick and skip Chrissie Bilsland. The 4th member was John Craig who was invited to join Callander's Graham Roebuck & Alan Tomlin. This triple made it through to the final against another Callander mix team of Pauline Deas, Stuart Aitchison & David MacInally from Creiff B.C. with John being in the winning team.
A most enjoyable day and very lucky with the weather having one real shower earlier in the day and the rain really starting as the final was drawing to a close.
Thanks to Callander for a fabulous day.

The farmers have been racing to get the hay in before the rain came and we were hoping we could beat the weather too for tonight's Forth & Endrick finals, but it was not to be!
Light showers mid afternoon turned to heavy downpours by late afternoon and the green was more like the swimming pool at the Olympics. It was suggested we could swim a relay race instead, the puddles got so big!
With all the lovely sandwiches and cakes laid out, we retired to the clubhouse and enjoyed a good chinwag and a feed.

The ladies singles, pairs and triples will now be played in Tuesday night and the gents finals will take place on Friday night. Both at Buchanan Arms with a 6.45pm start.

Let's keep our fingers crossed for better weather to get these finals played.
