Sport Ireland’s funding announcement for our High Performance programme through to 2028 was a massive boost for us. For them to decide that Aquatics should be the highest funded Performance sport in Ireland for this period is a huge statement in itself and testament to the great work that has taken place right across our swimming community in recent times. Needless to say we are very grateful and feel hugely honoured! ☘️

Some excellent days shared with some excellent people in Dubai. It was undoubtedly a privilege to speak alongside two illustrious professionals in Rohan Taylor & Sean Kelly, at a High Performance Coaching Conference facilitated by Matteo Giovannangeli and our friends in arena Racing - with many eager to learn coaches from across the Middle East in attendance, hosted by Hamilton Aquatics - and in particular Stuart Sant & Marco Vocale. We work in an amazing sport - and it is what it is because of the dedication and commitment of people such as those that we have met this week. Wonderful ☘️ 🇦🇪

There are some iconic Olympic venues that can’t be missed if you’re in the area - and so when checking out Team Ireland & Swim Ireland potential camp venues for Los Angeles 2028, the Colliseum, built for the 1932 Games - and then the central point for the 1984 Games (I can still see the guy with the jet pack flying over the stadium now) had to be on the agenda. An incredible aura and wonderful to know that it will feature yet again for another opening ceremony in just over three years time 👏🏼 🇺🇸

Little time to draw breath this week as we cover a large section of the California coastline seeking a LA28 Olympic Games Holding venue for Team Ireland and Swim Ireland. Along with Chef De Mission Gavin Noble, Athletics Ireland PD Paul McNamara and the support of Doug Ingram, it was great to start at UCLA, the campus that will provide the athlete village and in-Games training venues for most sports. Paris 2024 is not long past - but 2028 will be on us soon enough!
