Droitwich Spa Ladies secured a fantastic 4–1 victory in the FA Cup today, coming from behind to put in a brilliant all-round team performance.
We found ourselves 1–0 down after failing to clear a corner, but the response was immediate. From the restart, Ella played the ball wide to Georgia, who produced a superb pass through the defence. Libby showed great composure to lob the goalkeeper and bring us level.
The second half saw a much-improved performance from the team, with Droitwich controlling the game and creating plenty of opportunities.
Holly Rogers then took centre stage, completing a fantastic hat-trick and earning herself the player of the match award!
First, Holly won the ball from the defender before calmly dinking the ball into the top corner to give us the lead. Shortly after, she found herself on the edge of the box, picked up the ball and confidently slotted it into the bottom right corner to make it 3–1. We sealed the victory from the penalty spot after Holly was brought down inside the box. She stepped up and calmly converted to complete her hat-trick and make it 4–1.
It was a fantastic team effort from start to finish. The defence worked brilliantly together, covering for one another when needed, while the midfield worked tirelessly to win the ball back and provide the transition from defence into attack.
A deserved FA Cup victory and a performance full of character, resilience and teamwork.
