Our next class focus is Zumba! This is the class that brought me into group exercise which ultimately changed my career path!
What is Zumba?
Zumba is a fun, dance-based fitness programme that combines Latin and international music with easy-to-follow dance movements. It was created in the 1990s by Colombian dancer and choreographer Alberto ‘Beto’ Perez.
A typical Zumba class includes a mix of:
* Salsa
* Merengue
* Cumbia
* Reggaeton
* Pop and world music
The routines alternate between higher and lower intensity movements, creating an interval-style workout that improves cardiovascular fitness while feeling more like a dance party than a traditional exercise class.

What to expect in your first class
Don’t worry if you don’t get every step right. The aim is to keep moving, enjoy the music, and have fun. Most people find their confidence and coordination improve after just a few classes.
