*I know the score equals 54 not 53. This post is not about maths. It’s about learning a new sport and being dedicated to the process. Let’s build people up in this already critical world shall we?! Be kind…it doesn’t take a lot of effort!

I have been teaching a lady since the beginning of the year. A complete beginner, she got a set of clubs for Christmas, and came into the golf shop with her dad to ask for some lessons with me. She was SUPER keen, and I thought here we go, set of clubs for Christmas, the novelty will wear off in no time.

How she has proven me wrong. On just her 3rd time playing 9 holes, she has absolutely smashed all of my goals for her, so much so we are going to have to completely re evaluate what the aims are going forwards.

This isn’t just a post about how good I can make you at golf, it’s also a post to highlight the work and effort that goes into the game by this particular lady outside of her lessons. I see her on the driving range multiple times a week and she is dedicated to trying to execute the advice I give her.

If you visit me for your lessons and then don’t pick up a club in between, that is ABSOLUTELY fine, we just need to manage your expectations. If you have time and are able to put in the practice outside of our lessons, then you WILL progress quicker like this superstar! 🏌️‍♀️📈

CrossFit can benefit golfers of all ages and abilities. At CrossFit Fauna, Jo and her team pride themselves on scaling all workouts to enable absolutely anybody and everybody to access them. This is what attracted me to Fauna, as I’m well aware I’ve lost a lot of fitness recently.

In terms of golf, CrossFit utilises explosive, full-body movements which build:
• Hip drive (key for distance)
• Core strength (transfers energy through the swing)
• Fast-twitch muscle fibers (for clubhead speed)

It enables better mobility, flexibility, balance and stability. But the biggest one for me where my clients are concerned? It really gears your body up to be resistant to injury. In my world of playing golf professionally, it is essential for me to stay injury free so I can continue to earn a living. For my client base, it’s imperative for them to stay injury free so they can continue to enjoy their sport without discomfort.

My philosophy in life is to give everything a go once. Why not give CrossFit a go? There are no contracts at Fauna making it completely risk free, and you never know, you might just love it like me! Let me know if you’d like me to introduce you to Jo and I’ll happily point you in the right direction. You’re also more than welcome to train with me if you decide you’d like to!

We are delighted to announce that CrossFit Fauna are coming on board as a new competition sponsor at the club.  The CrossFit Fauna mission

A line I use quite often when I am teaching, is that hitting and hoping is a bit like trying to bake a cake without measuring the ingredients. Once in a while you might get a great result, but when it goes wrong it can be a real mess. 🎂

Your swing deserves some direction. In order to be successful in golf, we need to be able to produce a reliable, but REPEATABLE action. 🏌️‍♀️

The inconsistencies that a lot of golfers face, are caused because they don’t have a repeatable action. They aren’t too sure actually which bits should be repeated and which bits are harming them. ⛳️

That’s where coming to see me can make a huge difference. Together we can increase your consistency and confidence to maximise your ENJOYMENT. 😊

I focus on making this wonderful game EASIER, not more complicated. Let’s work together with your body and your swing, to stop you playing the lottery every time you set foot on the course. 🏌️⛳️🏌️‍♀️

Together, we can make your golf game better, I’ll give you the simple measurements for those ingredients and get you hitting consistent, reliable shots ✅

Absolutely delighted to have been presented with this award 2 years running, in recognition of my academic achievements. On the back of my most successful season of golf, this was the icing on the cake and makes all of the hard work and long hours worth it.

I’m now just weeks away from sitting final exams and being able to hopefully call myself fully qualified. I’ve learnt more along the way than I ever thought possible, and have thoroughly enjoyed the process.

Bring on the end of year 3 though…I’m ready to take a break from education after 3 degrees and my PGA training! 🤞👌

Back in July, I welcomed a new sponsor to my team... Premier Wheels Midlands Ltd. They've already proved to be a fantastic support and joined in the middle of one of my most successful seasons of golf. Their details have now been added to my car.

Premier Wheels are alloy wheel and diamond cut specialists, with a tag line "in pursuit of perfection". Quite fitting! Based in Pershore, they offer free quotes and a collection and delivery service as standard. Visit their website here https://premierwheelsmidlands.co.uk

I'm delighted to have them on board and I am looking forward to a successful relationship together.

If you would like a warm introduction to Reece and the team, please let me know and I can organise this.

In golf you lose more than you win and you have to take the rough with the smooth.

The last week or so has been a little bit rough. After a fantastic start at Open Qualifying, one hole completely de-railed me and that was the end of this year’s chance. It really knocked me as I had felt so good coming into it, I was 1 over par for 16 of the holes, and have quite honestly never felt quite so deflated from feeling so ready and in the best form. After a couple of days I was able to take the positives and move on mentally.

Into this week and a national final down in Welwyn Garden City and day 1 was a slog. My game was off, my driver which is usually the most trustworthy club in the bag wasn’t firing, and my irons weren’t getting me close enough to the hole for genuine birdie chances. It was a long day and by day 2, knowing your chance to make the cut has gone, it’s hard to find any sort of motivation to concentrate fully. Having said that I had a great playing partner who also wasn’t having the best time, so he and I chatted throughout the round which turned out to be a fairly nice walk and knock around a golf course. Every cloud!

I’m away this weekend at a social golf event, looking forward to just being able to swing freely and not worry about a score or trying to pick up any prize money.

Golf is tough. One day you can feel like you’ve mastered it and the next it puts you right back in your place. After a long phone call with my dad last night after a fairly disappointing tournament, my key takeaway from him was this:

“Just like you don’t gain it overnight, you don’t lose it overnight”. Glenister, G (Senior!)

To still be learning is humbling but refreshing. One thing I tell all of my pupils is that you’ll never complete golf, and here I am as living proof that just when you think you’ve nailed it, you realise the game needs to teach you some more! Onto the next…!

Many thanks as always to my sponsors GSG Acquired and Premier Wheels Midlands Ltd, along with Atticus Insurance as sponsor of Graham Glenister and The Glenister Golf Academy

Absolutely delighted this week to have come away with a T5 finish at the PGA Assistants’ Championship. 36 holes around Silverstone Golf Club in the torrential rain and crazy wind was tough, but Ryan () on my bag kept my kit dry and we worked hard to shoot a 76 followed by a 72 to finish 2 shots behind a playoff spot.

A big thanks and shout out at the start of the season now to for their sponsorship and support. It’s greatly appreciated and really helps to keep me competing, as the cost of entry fees starts to rack up over time!

Today it was warm enough to take not only my coat off, but my jumper too! So obviously my clubs and I just had to go for a little stroll on the course. What a glorious afternoon, after a busy morning of teaching!
It’s easy to forget over the winter months how much I truly love golf, but the minute the sun comes out, the long, wet, cold winter is a distant memory! 😎☀️⛳️🏌️‍♀️

Life has been governed by running recently (which I am really not talented at), and I decided today was the day to get the pre-season golf practice properly underway (which I am slightly more talented at!). The sun was shining, it wasn’t -10 degrees, and I was feeling great. Anyone who knows me well knows I don’t really enjoy winter golf, so today felt like a great day to get properly going again!

I love competing, and I can’t wait for the season to get going! Just the small matter of completing the London Marathon first 😬
