First triathlon of 2026 booked! End of May in Colonia de Sant Jordi, Mallorca. Olympic distance - 1.5km swim, 40km bike, 10km run. Will hopefully not be too warm!

If the dates work I will probably do the Wombourne sprint Triathlon again in April.

Need to find a bike box now to fit my TT bike to get it over to Mallorca.

Got a bit boxed in at the start by slower runners but managed to get a bit of space half a mile in - at which point I realised I had a stone in my shoe. It seemed to disappear a couple of miles later so all good. Saw the fam at Portixol which is where it got a bit more difficult as we headed up into Palma. Cobbled streets and sharp turns slowed me down a bit but really happy with the result 🏅

Race number collected, carbs loaded (beer counts as carbs right??) and kit sorted.  Hoping it’s not too warm tomorrow! ☀...

Another couple of days and it’s then a taper. This week has been/is…

Monday - warm up, 10x 2 mins at 6m10, 1 min recovery, cool down
Tuesday - 50 mins base
Wednesday warm up, 10x 2 mins at 6m10, 1 min recovery, cool down
Thursday - rest
Friday - Warm up, 9x 15 secs at 4m25, 3 mins recovery, cool down
Saturday - 1h50 base

Running should be about forty miles.

Along with work and doggo walks, averaging about 18000 steps/10 miles a day and 3200 calories expended

Go big or go home… I’ve entered the ballot for The Norseman 2026. Full distance tri with a difference.

Jump off a ferry into a Norwegian fjord in the dark. Swim 3.8km in freezing water. Bike 180km over the mountains. Run 42.2km up a mountain.

Should be fun 😂

One more week of peak training and then 2 weeks of taper before Palma half. I’ve put more structure into this than I’ve ever done for a marathon. Total will be 15 weeks which seems a bit OTT for a half marathon - but I’ve only done 2 races so far this year so felt like I really needed to commit to this.

It’s not been easy and I’m still not sure I can hold 7 minute miles for the duration.

Today was sprints which I really enjoy. 15 minute warmup, 8x 40 seconds sprints with 3 minutes recovery, 10 minutes cool down.

I will be glad when I can get back to tri training. Have had to neglect swim and bike as its just messed with run coaching

Run Forest run! Pretty much my training 🙄 Haven‘t had the capacity to bike at all and have only had a few swims 😭 I’ve cut training to 5 days a week, but its usually 2 threshold sessions, 1 anaerobic/sprint session, 1 recovery run and 1 long run. The plus is fitness is improving. V02 max is trending up. Looking forward to getting this half out of the way and being able to balance swim bike run again.

Plans change. I really wanted to do a half and full IM this year but life/kids schedules have meant that isn‘t going to happen. Did a duathlon in February 🥶 and a sprint tri in April. Will try to get another short course tri in this year.

I’ve never done a half marathon race so have signed up for the Palma half in October. Training for that ramps up now as it’s only 12 weeks away but will still swim and bike. Looking forward to racing. It‘s great to have a focus.

Current PB is 1h42m30s. If the conditions are good I’m hoping to take 10 mins off that 😬

Loving the new TT bike. Managed almost entire ride on the aerobars today. Just braking, sharp corners and steep downhills on the base bars. New Xlab between the arms bottle mount with garmin mount is working great too.

Not a hard week, just trying to maintain fitness. Great bike today but omg it was so windy I could barely get on the aerobars with confidence. Annoying as it makes such a difference. Had sweat running into my eyes and numb hands. The joys 🤦‍♂️
