💙 DRIGHLINGTON JUNIORS BLUES 💙

Bank holiday Monday our lads took part in the Bradford Park Avenue Avery Fest and it was very tough as expected.
——
We entered as ‘B standard’ team but after they got predominantly ‘A standard’ entries there was only one league to compete in but meant everyone got a chance at knockout stage.
Somehow we became ‘that team’ that struggled for a result in the group stage but progressed to the semi final playing BPA whites which we won on penalties. 🙌🏼
We then (with the help of JackT’s heroic goalkeeping) held Bradford Park Avenue’s A team to a 0-0 draw in the final but in the end lost on penalties.

To put this tournament into context and what it meant to us is Bradford Park Avenues A team in particular are in a league of their own. They’ve played an age group up this season, have a couple of their players signing for academy’s and in previous games the scores have been ridiculous… 22-1🫣. We had no expectations going into this other than to see if we could hold our own in what we knew would be a high level tournament and to get to the final I believe we did just that 🙌🏼

FORZA SUPER SERIES ⚽️
Our Drighlington Blues team went to Forzas super series tournament. Going into it being the ONLY grassroots team to enter we knew it was going to be a challenge. We only really wanted to play against one team that was there.
Anywho our lads walked out on that pitch as they do week in week out and played their hearts out. 3x 15minute intense games back to back with a minute break in between in 21degree heat..
We qualified the group stages with 2 wins and a loss, which took us into the premier league knockout phase playing our semi-final against the top of group A who hadn’t conceded a goal all tournament until they played us 😏
The game was a battle to say the least, we held our own the whole way through the 20minute game with the final score being 3-2 to them.
We came 4th out of 8 incredible teams and we will take that all day long when we had no expectations as to how the day would go 🙌🏼 we also came away with things that we need to work on to make us better and we’ll go again 💙
Super proud of every single one of them lads you wore that badge with honour and pride and watch you flourish as a team every time you play is amazing 🫶🏼

THE LIVERSEDGE CUP ⚽️
Huge congratulations to each and every player who took part representing Drighlington Juniors at the Liversedge Cup.
2 teams entered and was brilliantly matched with opposition our whites team played 5 games; won 1 drew 2 and lost 2 narrowly missing out on qualifying to the semis however every one of the lads played their hearts out and there was some brilliant football going on and some unbelievable saves from Max 🙌🏼
Our yellows team also played 5 games drew 4 keeping the score 0-0 and lost 1, they qualified to the semis and won 2-1.. the final was a brilliant battle!! neck and neck until the very last minute when the opposition managed to slip one in. Each and every lad on that pitch opposition included playing their final match at 9pm was shattered but they didn’t give up. Incredibly proud of them all!
Well done lads! Onto the next we go!
