Excuse my absence

Been a little quieter on here over the last week or so.

However, I have some exciting news, I now have my own place.

Some not so exciting news, I spent 3 days building furniture.

Fitness is a lot like IKEA, the advertised product appears very simple and attractive, the building process sucks ass but in the end ultimately it is very rewarding to step back and look at the finished project.

Ready to handle the demands of your sport?

Chances are over the last few months/year your training has been substandard and completed alone.

In around 4weeks most team sports have been given the nod to return to train.

Today I read a great article published on the predicted effects of lockdown on injury rate for sports people returning to sport after prolonged time out…
As you can imagine, things don’t look great.

Some numbers to take in account of:
• 30% Increased risk of injury rate occurs in the tackle area after 4-6weeks out of competition.
• Significant higher risk of ACL injury after 5weeks out from sport.
• Muscle strength and force generating capacity of a muscle group subjected to extreme disuse declines by ~1.5–2% per day after a weeks bed rest.
• Within a month of detraining, impairments in tendon and ligament tensile strength and functionality can be expected.

My advice to tackle this and reduce injury/ reinjury rate:
▪️Highlight the demands of your sport and reverse engineer the process it takes to reach/match those demands.
▪️If you have had a past injury, use this time to build dial into it.
▪️Manage your intensity over you’re the next few weeks.
▪️Get a ball in your hands or at your feet ASAP.

If you’re a physio or a sports therapist:
▪️Keep your diary open.

Know Your Value

I have had a few conversations like this over the last month with newly qualified PT’s and coaches who are wanting to make a dent in the industry or struggling to get a foothold in terms of developing and keeping their head above water during lockdown.

This trimmed clip stood out to me in regards to a mistake PT/Coaches I see make too often.

Although your start point is very different to where you’ll be in time, be patient, consistency is paramount.

Value is everything.

Money is not real; it is a conscious agreement on measuring value.

(Something a little different for Wednesday’s talk to camera video as super short on time).

Routine & Habit

Another 6minute diary completed.

Often you’ll see successful business or sports people allude that autonomous habits are the turning point to long term success.

Wether this is true or not it is something over the last 18 months I have tried to become more consciously aware and in touch with.

For me The 6minute Diary has become a critical part to my every day and has pivotal in keeping my head above water during a pretty rough ride this year.

Something I would highly recommend if you’re wanting to upgrade your day or become more aware/ mindful of how you think/ behave.

“Nothing is particularly hard if you divide it into small jobs”.
