What a week at “The Den”
Over 30 sessions done, the place was buzzing!
Going old school, clanging and banging of weights!

1st lower body workout in 5 weeks due to having a poisoned toe, I have Athx this Saturday in Glasgow so had to have a run through of the big lifts, feeling strong and ready to pull some big no’s.
Not been the best prep but me and will be ready to smash it 💪💪

Well after 2 and a bit years it’s time for me to say goodbye to my family
I’d like to thank each and every member for making me feel welcome and for turning up at my classes and putting in max effort (well most of you lol)
Massive thank you to what a couple of years, from smashing kettlebell classes together, to having my b***y destroyed at b***y burn, we took an amazing team to Hyrox, ran the Troon 10k together and have had an amazing time working together. Far and away the best time I’ve had PT’ing in a gym.
I wish you all the best with the new gym and I know you’ll create the best place by far to train in Troon.
I won’t be a stranger.

My second check in since I decided to drop weight after my strongman comps.
My weight had came down steadily, on the left I was 109.2kg, 17 stone 2 that was 15th march, on the right and bottom I’m now 102kg,16 stone as of today, 16 pounds or 7.2kg in 8 weeks.
I am delighted with how my weight has came down and I’ve managed to maintain my strength, still holding a very decent amount strength heading for ATHX, I’m now running my 5k around 28 mins but I know that will drop!
It’s not been easy as I’ve struggled with the calories deficit after eating around 4000 cals a day now being around 2200, but I’ve stuck with it, I’ve still been strength training 4 times a week, added in a 5k run and doing 2 kettlebell classes, also make sure I’m hitting 12500 steps per day and around 2-3 litres water.
So now the countdown to athx at end of June, weight goal is as close to 95kg and to be running sub 25 mins 5k, whilst maintaining a deadlift min 5 rep max of 200kg, squat 3 rep max of 200kg and a ohp 1 rep max of 100kg!
It’s gonna be tough but I love a challenge!
Massive thanks to my coach for his programming and adjustments for this old war horse! Keeping this 50 year old on track and being able to keep up with the young ones!

The end of strength build, we broke the plan down to 2 blocks, first block focussing on technique, strength and endurance.
Block 2 we stripped back the reps and focussed on pushing her numbers as much as we could while maintaining good technique and keeping her as comfortable as possible whilst lifting.
Her results were
Deadlift 102.5kg
Bench 55kg
Squat 85kg
Brilliant increases and exactly how we wanted to finish this block off before she starts her 10k running program.
She has been keeping a shorter run in while doing her strength training but now we stretch the legs and get her faster and aim for a PB.
