𝐌𝐀𝐓𝐂𝐇 𝐃𝐀𝐘 𝟓: 𝐃𝐂 𝐃𝐢𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐝𝐬 𝐯𝐬 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐢𝐬𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐈𝐈𝐬
The Diamonds welcomed Greenisland FC IIs to Cahore on an absolutely miserable Wednesday evening, in matchday 5 of the NIWFA division 4 season.
The Diamonds got off to a good start applying some early pressure but Greenisland grew into the game, stretching the Diamonds with some trademark slick passing. However, the Diamonds weren't about to be bowled over and the midfield and defence worked hard all half to repel any attacks. The Diamonds were unlucky not to take a lead into half time after McGuigan and Marshall linked up well but just couldn't get the finish.

The second half started as the first ended, with the Diamonds coming under pressure but the deadlock was broken about 15 minutes in with Lagan feeding the ball through to McGuigan who took the ball on, drove up the right wing and lashed an unstoppable shot across the goal. 5 minutes later, good work from McGuigan again won the Diamonds a corner which Muldoon delivered brilliantly, with Gallagher getting a great header on it to put the Diamonds 2-0 up. Greenisland rallied and threw everything at the Diamonds, and were unlucky not to pull one back, but the Diamonds - as a team - defended, putting everything on the line to see it out for a very good 2-0 victory.

The Diamonds face Holywood FC Ladies next Thursday night at the Aurora Leisure Centre Bangor, all support welcome.
