8/8. The Lion’s Gate.

A threshold day, held in ancient tradition as a moment of alignment and awakening.

We mark it the way we mark most things here. Slowly. Together. In circle, with intention, with breath.

What are you releasing this season? What are you calling in?

Breathe, move, belong 🌿

On the 8th of August, the Lion’s Gate opens.

An old threshold, marked by the rising of Sirius alongside the sun, held sacred long before us. A day the ancients called a doorway between what has been and what is becoming.

We do not need to understand it fully to feel it. A quiet pull towards release. A whisper towards intention. A moment to sit in circle and ask ourselves what we are ready to let go of, and what we are ready to welcome in.

This Lion’s Gate, we gather. Not to chase energy, but to make space for it.

Details on our next circle coming soon.

Breathe, move, belong 🌿

A qualification and a skill aren’t quite the same thing. Both matter. They just don’t replace each other. 🤎

Good training is the foundation - STOTT/Merrithew, Moore Movement, real anatomy study, hours of apprenticeship and examination. There are no shortcuts there, and that groundwork shouldn’t be skipped.

But skill is what grows after the certificate. Over a decade in the room has taught me things no training manual ever could - learning to read a body, not just apply a method. Choosing safety before challenge, because a body that feels safe will always do more than one that’s been pushed.

In an industry with so little regulation, that distinction is worth holding onto. So if you teach, keep training and keep refining. And if you’re choosing a studio, it’s worth asking about both.

Teaching movement. Holding space. Gathering tribe.

Early light this morning, before the first client of the day arrived on the deck. The garden still soft with dew, the hills beyond just finding their colour.

There’s a particular quiet to these hours. The work hasn’t started yet, but something in the body is already awake and ready.

This is the backdrop we move in. Grateful for it every single time.

I have spent years holding space on the mat.

Watching women arrive carrying everything - the week, the worry, the weight of being needed.

And I have seen what happens when a body finally exhales.

I want to create the same space, off the mat. A place to come back to yourself. To speak, to listen, to simply be.

More soon💙

The Emoya Ritual is not a programme. It has no end date.
It is one class a week. Your class. Your time. The same mat, the same hour, woven into your week like a ritual should be.
But it is also more than that. It is the same faces. The same community showing up beside you, week after week. The quiet nod of recognition. The shared breath at the start of class. The knowing that this hour belongs to you all.

That is what consistency builds. Not just a stronger body. A community. A tribe.

We know life moves around us. That some weeks the mat feels like the only thing holding you steady. The Ritual holds your place. Miss a class and you have four weeks to make it up across the schedule - because showing up for yourself should never feel like a punishment.

One class a week. The same time. The same people. Yours.
If you have been thinking about it, this is your invitation.

A little note to let you know that Emoya Studio will be closed from 25 May, reopening on Monday 8 June.

I’m stepping away for two weeks with my family - to be present, to rest, and to do the thing I encourage you all to do: choose myself for a little while.

The mat will be here when we’re back. The schedule opens again on 8 June and I would love to see you in it.

Thank you for being such a genuinely warm and generous group of people to teach. It means more than you know.

See you soon x

A body that needed healing. A practice that changed everything. A community built on belonging.

Emoya grew from a deeply personal journey with chronic back pain, a decade of transformative Pilates practice, and an unshakeable belief that when we move, breathe and gather together, something quietly powerful happens.

Here you will find classical Pilates rooted in real experience, immersive days designed to nourish body and mind, and women's circles where stories are shared, voices are found and tribe is built. This is not just a studio. It is a space to breathe, move and belong. And it was made for you.

I have been teaching for over a decade, across countries and continents, on mats and reformers and in circles. But my most honest moments as a teacher are not the ones I plan. They are the ones I witness. A client who arrived in pain and leaves standing taller. A woman who came for her body and found something quieter and deeper waiting for her too.

That is why Emoya exists. That is why I keep showing up.

Whatever brings you here, I am glad you found us.

This is a Low Folding Mat. Designed by Joseph Pilates himself. Original equipment, part of a complete system - and it lives right here at Emoya.

Pilates was never just a reformer. It was designed as a full system of equipment - the mat, the reformer, the Cadillac, the chair, the barrels. Each piece with its own purpose, its own intelligence, its own contribution to how the body moves.
The Low Folding Mat brings that original intention back. Close to the floor, close to the body, deeply precise. It is where classical Pilates began and it is where we return to again and again.
Every class at Emoya is rooted in that system. The mat is not the beginning and the reformer is not the pinnacle. They are part of the same conversation.
