Milo is 13 years old and has been part of Legion Barbell for nearly 4 years.

Like many young people who don’t always fit the traditional school system, Milo has shown what’s possible when you’re placed in the right environment, one that is supportive, encouraging, and built around your needs. In that space, young people don’t just cope… they thrive.

Year after year, Milo competes at a National level in weightlifting, showing incredible commitment to his sport. But more importantly, that commitment has helped him build confidence, self-belief, and self-esteem that will carry far beyond the platform.

This is no accident.

At Legion, our four tenets; Excite, Engage, Enable, Empower, exist to create exactly this kind of outcome. A safe, supportive environment where young people can develop resilience, character, and belief in what they are capable of.

Now, Milo is taking on a new challenge…

He will be climbing Mount Snowdon in Wales as part of a fundraising effort, pushing himself both physically and mentally.

We’re incredibly proud of him and everything he represents.

"HYROX? Is that like CrossFit?" 🤔

Not quite. HYROX is a fitness event anyone can do, running mixed with functional stations like sled pushes, rowing and wall balls.

No crazy gymnastics...no barrier to entry. Just honest, full-body fitness that actually carries over into everyday life. 💪

Our Stride Together class brings that same training to Dover, scaled so a total beginner and a seasoned athlete can train in the same room.

Most adults fail to see that most of their endeavours are likely to end in failure.

Our youth lifters are taught from the start not to get emotionally attached to failure.

Accept it, LEARN from it and move on.

Clunky and clicky shoulders are common, particularly in lifters who press overhead a lot.

Unless it causes pain, loss of strength, instability, or locking, it’s generally not a concern and is often just harmless joint noise.

That said, some shoulder conditioning work can help reduce the funky noises, improve shoulder health, and minimise niggles over time.

People often say they can’t squat well because of poor mobility.

Sometimes that’s true… but more often, it’s not the real issue.

Squatting isn’t just about mobility or strength.

It comes down to four key things:

Position
Timing
Coordination
Awareness

For example:
If your weight shifts too far forward, you’ll struggle to stay balanced and hit depth.
If your brace is weak, you lose stability at the bottom.

These aren’t mobility problems, they’re movement problems.

So throwing in random stretches or exercises won’t fix it.

Instead, focus on improving how you move.

Get these four things right, and your squat can change quickly.

That’s the difference between guessing… and coaching.
