Sunderland have been the better side dominating possession and creating far more attacking intent with 9 shots to United's 3. However, only 1 shot on target tells you the final ball hasn't quite been there for Brian Brobbey and Chemsdine Talbi up front.

It’s 0-0 at the break, but the game hasn’t been balanced.

Manchester United are controlling possession and spending more time in Everton’s half, but they lack sharpness in the final third. The build up looks decent, yet the final pass and finishing are not convincing.

Everton are sitting deep, staying compact and disciplined. They are not creating much going forward, but defensively they look organized and difficult to break down.

So far, United look like the better side on the ball, but without a goal their dominance means nothing. If they don’t become more clinical in the second half, Everton could punish them late.

Second half will test United’s mentality.
