Well done to Kev 🎣

Today’s Evesham qualifier saw me pick the famous peg 1 on the battleships draw. Now I’m not known for my ability to draw fliers at Evesham so straight away the pressure was on to have a weight off it although it has only produced once out of the 6 previous matches.
Anyway the pan was to start on a small GB feeder with an emphasis on the small! With a 6 m line droppered with maggots for a few perch and a h**p line at 11m with a back up of a flat float line at 141/2m which would not be fed unless needed. Normally I would put my h**p line a bit further out but due to the resident pike and a steep bank behind I figured that a slightly shorter pole would be quicker if I had to drag roach in to avoid the pike.
The first hour or so was spent on the feeder with red maggot hookbaits and produced a 6oz roach a couple of chublets a perch and a nice bonus skimmer after 30 minutes with one reasonable fish behind had by a pike. Bites dried up when the sun came out so onto the h**p line and started to catch roach of a nice stamp.which always gets you thinking is it going to get attacked by pike on the way in. Thankfully Mr pike stayed downstream in peg 2 apart from 1 strike at 3pm. Fairly regular bites throughout the match with a lull around 4pm which was probably a pike sat in the swim so a dropper of worm and maggots went out at 141/2m and a couple of perch followed but nothing spectacular so back on the h**p and a few more fish. The go to rig today was a 0.2grm Sensas Alberto shotted with no 12s on 0.96 Vespe Pro with 0.75 Vespe Pro hooklength and size 18 B511. The scales showed 10lb 11oz 12dr at the weigh in which put me second overall in the match to a 12lb weight of chub from peg 35 for Venue newbie Mike Thornton.and a zone win for a golden ticket to the Evesham final on August bank holiday weekend.

New range of specialist natural water hooks have now been released, for sale on the web.

These Japanese made patterns are much finer than comparative hooks, with long chemically sharpened conical points and neat micro barbs. This gives superior pe*******on for a firm hold.

The specialist steel allows the hooks to be fine and light weight, which allows for better presentation, yet they are surprisingly strong,
