👩‍🍳 WE’RE HIRING! 👨‍🍳

We’re looking for a Café Cook / Kitchen Team Member to join us at Discovery Village.

💰 £14.50 per hour
⏰ Around 20 hours per week
📅 2–3 days per week
📍 Discovery Village, Christchurch

This isn’t fine dining!

You’ll be preparing the food from our café menu including toasties, jacket potatoes, avocado toast, bacon rolls and children’s meals, as well as helping our café team when needed.

We’re looking for someone who is:

☕ Experienced in a café, kitchen or similar environment
🥪 Confident preparing food independently
🧹 Clean, organised and reliable
😊 Friendly and happy to be part of a small team
📋 Comfortable with food hygiene and allergen procedures

One of the big benefits? This is primarily a daytime role, so you can enjoy working in hospitality without the usual late-night restaurant finishes.

Children can explore the village at their own pace, join in with our performer-led story if they’d like to, or simply enjoy some relaxed imaginative play.

Siblings are very welcome to come along too 💚

These sessions are designed to offer a calmer Discovery Village experience, with reduced capacity and lower sound levels to help make play feel a little more comfortable for children who may find our standard sessions a bit busy.

Children can explore the village at their own pace, take part in our performer-led story if they’d like to, or simply enjoy some relaxed role play and imaginative play.

And siblings are more than welcome to come along too, so the whole family can enjoy the session together.

🎃 PROFESSOR FIZZLE AND THE BRAVE MACHINE IS NOW LIVE! ⚙️🤖

This Halloween, something rather unusual is happening at Discovery Village...

Meet Professor Fizzle, a brilliant (if slightly clumsy!) inventor who has created the BRAVE Machine to help with all the things that can feel a little scary at Halloween. 👻🕷️

But there’s a problem... the machine isn’t quite finished!

Children will need to help Professor Fizzle complete BRAVE through a brand-new performer-led adventure all about courage, asking for help and discovering that being brave can look different for everyone. 💚

And the best bit?

🎟️ Our Halloween sessions are the SAME PRICE as our standard play sessions!

Plus, every paying child will receive:
🍫 A chocolatey Halloween treat
⭐ Their all-important Discovery Village sticker

Dairy-free and gluten-free treat options will also be available.

There’s no special ticket or complicated booking process either. Simply head to our usual booking site, choose your preferred Halloween date and book your session as normal.

Have you met Rustle the red squirrel yet? 🐿️🍂

Rustle has become a very special little part of our latest story, Autumn Ash’s Woodland Wander, and we love seeing how children react when our cheeky red squirrel puppet makes an appearance.

Puppets can be brilliant for young children. They help spark imagination, encourage communication and can make it easier for children to join in, especially if they feel a little shy around a grown-up performer.

They can also help children explore feelings, build confidence and connect with a story in a way that feels playful, safe and familiar.

For us, Rustle is much more than just a cute character. He helps bring the woodland story to life and gives children someone special to talk to, help and look after along the way.

So, has your little one met Rustle yet? 🐿️

Birthday parties should be fun for parents too 🎈🎂

That’s why our parties at Discovery Village are designed to take the pressure off, so you can spend less time organising, serving food and clearing up, and more time actually enjoying your child’s special day with them.

With our Gold and Exclusive parties, we take care of everything from beautifully printed party invitations to the food, entertainment, party hosting and, perhaps most importantly, the clearing up afterwards! 🙌

Your little one gets to celebrate with their friends, explore the village, enjoy our performer-led story and make some brilliant birthday memories.

🎉 We’re TWO today! 🎉

Today marks two whole years since we opened the doors to Discovery Village, and what an incredible two years it’s been.

When we first opened our little role play village, we honestly had no idea just how much it would grow, or how many families would become part of our story.

So, to celebrate our second birthday, here are a few fun facts from the last two years…

🎟️ More than 90,000 guests have come through our doors

☕ 11,131 lattes and 6,213 cups of tea have been served

🎭 26 original role play adventure stories have been designed, written, rehearsed and performed

🧻 2,160 toilet rolls have been purchased... which feels frankly ridiculous 😂

🎨 43 pots of paint have helped us keep Discovery Village looking fresh and fabulous

And since opening, we’ve reinvested more than £145,000 into Discovery Village, including custom-made story props, costumes, activities, role play toys and improvements to the venue.

But the numbers only tell a tiny part of the story.

The most important part has always been the children and families who fill Discovery Village with imagination, laughter and memories every single day.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you.

🌙 Following the woodland trail…

One of our favourite moments in Autumn Ash’s Woodland Wander is when the children follow animal tracks through Discovery Village, looking carefully for clues to discover which woodland animals have been out and about. 🐾🦊🦉

Along the way, they’ll look up to our glowing woodland moon and use their observation skills to see what they can spot hiding in the forest.

It’s a lovely, calm part of the story that gets children looking, thinking and exploring together, all while learning a little more about the wildlife we might find in our local woodlands. 🍂🌳

Autumn Ash’s Woodland Wander is running now as part of our two-hour role play sessions.
