Just a little night away… but oh it felt GOOD 🚐✨

Last weekend we took the van just up the road to Studland. Nothing far, nothing fancy, but being back in the van, escaping routine, even for one night, was exactly what we needed.

We had a belated anniversary meal at the beautiful Shell Bay Restaurant, such a stunning spot, delicious food, and that cosy coastal atmosphere we love.

The next morning we wrapped up and headed for a beach walk along Studland Bay. Honestly, it felt like we were on a deserted island. Not another soul in sight. That’s one of the things I adore about this time of year, wild, quiet beaches all to yourself 🤍

So… it absolutely poured with rain and was blowing a hooley!!!
But did it stop us? Of course not.

While wandering (slightly soggy and wind swept, but smiling), we stumbled across a hide overlooking the area where beavers have recently been released. Despite me practically willing them to pop their little heads up and say hello, we weren’t lucky enough to spot one this time, I’m blaming the rain!!!

We were treated to the sight of a herd of muntjac deer though, which felt pretty special.

We’ll definitely be back, maybe at dawn or dusk next time… on full beaver watch 🦫👀

Sometimes you don’t need a big adventure. Just a van. A beach. And someone to share it with 🩵🧡💛

Huge thank you to Judith for this lovely review after our recent SUP Safety Indoor Pool Session 🩵🧡💛

“Thank you for today's lesson Sam, it really was great fun, and so helpful as your way of teaching, advice and demonstrations all made sense, which in turn made getting back onto the board so much easier than I found previously. Hopefully I will be able to join some of your tours when the weather picks up a bit!! 🌞”

SUP Safety isn’t about falling in for the sake of it… it’s about:
✔️ Understanding what to do if you do fall in
✔️ Learning simple, energy-saving self-rescue techniques
✔️ Building confidence in a warm, controlled environment
✔️ Making getting back on your board feel achievable

So many paddlers avoid practicing self rescue because it feels awkward or exhausting, but with the right technique, it really doesn’t have to be.

And when the weather does warm up? That confidence changes everything on the water 🙌

Spring is SO close I can feel it!!! ☀️🏄🏽🩵

I made the most of today’s sunshine and got myself down to Mudeford Quay, one of my absolute favourite places to paddle.

Blue skies… 🩵
Sun on my face… ☀️
Board picnic…🧡
And that feeling of complete calm when you’re gliding across the water… 👌🏻

After a winter of pool sessions, planning, and watching the weather… being back out there properly just lit that spark again 🔥🙌🏼🏄🏽

It’s honestly the best feeling and it’s got me SO excited to get our lessons and tours fully back up and running.

In the summer, running SAM SUP LIFE keeps me fit and strong.
In the winter… the gym takes over 🏋🏽‍♂️

I’ve been trying new classes, lifting heavier, doing yoga, walking more and generally pushing myself out of my comfort zone.

Not for beach body nonsense.
For strong body, strong mind, long paddling life energy 🧠 💪 🏄🏽 🩵

What an incredible way to kick off the year for SAM SUP LIFE 🙌

Three days…
One amazing group…
So much progression…

Day 1 – The Foundations
Introduction to paddleboarding, learning the basics, building confidence, and getting comfortable on the board.

Day 2 – Progression
From kneeling to standing, finding balance, refining paddle strokes, improving turns… the determination in that pool was unreal!!!

Day 3 – SUP Safety
In a safe, warm and fun environment, we covered self-rescue, peer rescue, prone paddling, rafting up and so much more. Confidence levels went through the roof!!!

I absolutely LOVE watching the transformation over three days… seeing nervous beginners grow into capable, confident paddlers is why I do what I do 🩵🧡💛

You guys smashed it!!! 👏🔥 💪

Now… roll on April when we take you outside for your first mini tour ☀️ 🌿 I cannot wait!!!

Summer Sam = suncream, salt hair and living out of a drybag ☀️

And honestly? I’m learning to embrace this slower season…

Winter is for:
✨ Rest
✨ Reset
✨ Long walks
✨ Early nights

Winter might look quiet on the outside… but behind the scenes at SAM SUP LIFE it’s full steam ahead 👀

This is my season for:
✨ Planning 2026 adventures
✨ Learning new skills
✨ Building even better experiences for my SUP CREW

Winter is my season for learning, planning and levelling up. Right now I’m deep into coastal navigation training 🧭🌊 and honestly… I’m loving being a student again.

Every new skill = safer, smarter, more adventurous paddles this spring and summer 🙌🏄🏽🩵

Just because the boards are (mostly) resting, doesn’t mean the adventure planning has stopped… quite the opposite.
