We know there has been significant discussion regarding recent E. coli testing in the River Stour and Christchurch Harbour, and we want to share an update on where things stand.
Nick and Lucy attended Tuesday’s public meeting with local representatives to hear the latest findings and understand the situation firsthand. The safety and peace of mind of our customers and team are always our highest priorities.
The Testing & Public Health Statements
* Water Sampling: Independent testing on the River Stour recorded high E. coli spikes in mid-August. The Environment Agency (EA) has also sampled within Christchurch Harbour and reported that its readings now fall within expected ranges, with no official health warnings issued for the harbour.
* Public Health Advice: UKHSA noted that overall E. coli cases in Dorset remain comparable to previous years, and because E. coli can spread in many ways, individual cases cannot be attributed to a specific source without detailed testing.
Our Operations & Safety Measures
*We are continuing our operations while keeping a close eye on official guidance and incoming data.
*We encourage all water users to follow standard water hygiene practices: cover any open cuts, avoid swallowing water, and shower after your session.
As a local business, we love these waters and care deeply about Christchurch Harbour. We stand with local businesses, environmental groups, and residents in pushing for more consistent Environment Agency monitoring to safeguard our waterways.
If you have a booking and have any personal health or safety questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to our team.
Thank you for your continued support - we look forward to seeing you on the water!
