This creation is a bit fraudulent 😂 Most days I probably look more like Mrs Trunchbull after a storm in the swimming pool than anything glamorous… 😂🌊 but this photo captures something much more important it’s the joy I feel being with the little ones. 🥹💙
People often think swimming lessons are about push and glides, floating, or perfect technique. 🏊♀️ But the truth is… that’s not the real foundation.
Years ago I ran a crash course with a group of children. One little girl was absolutely terrified of the water. While the others were swimming by the end of the week, she was still finding it really hard. She tried, but fear is powerful when you’re small.
At the end of the course the children gave me little cards. I expected the usual “thank you for helping me learn to swim.” But one card stopped me in my tracks.
It said:
“Thank you for making me brave.” 🥹✨
Not thank you for teaching me to swim.
Thank you for making me brave.
And that has stayed with me ever since.
Because actually… bravery is the real beginning. 💛
Before the floating, before the strokes, before the technique - a child has to believe in themselves.
At The Koral Reef Academy, that’s always been my ethos. We don’t just teach children to swim. We help them find their courage, their confidence, and the belief that they can do hard things. 🌟🐬
And when that belief clicks… everything else follows. 💦✨
That same ethos carries into KAMP too. Whether we’re in the water, trying a new activity, making friends, or stepping outside a comfort zone, the goal is always the same - helping children grow in confidence and realise they’re capable of more than they think. 🌈
Thank you to every parent who trusts us with your little people. It’s the most special privilege to watch them grow, try, fall, try again, and discover just how brave they really are.
