Solemate Runners This is our ultra-running journey: the highs, the lows, the good, the bad!

Paul set out at 5am on Friday 5 June 2026 to run 100 miles around his childhood town of Alcester to raise awareness of men’s mental health for June Men’s Health Month. Aimee kept him company between miles 35 and 61 but otherwise he ran completely alone. He suffered through heat and humidity during the day 🥵 then torrential rain in the night 💦, he endured blisters, chafing and knee pain and he constantly battled his own brain telling him to stop 🧠 But despite all this he completed 100.56 miles in 27 hours 💪

This was the start of a 36 hour ultra marathon, yes you are correct we are chained together 🤣 Unfortunately it didn’t go to plan for us in 2024 🙃 We stopped after just 21 hours on around 73ish miles, so we are back this year to try again and get the 130 miles 💪
The race is Escape from Meriden Chained which takes place in November!

Last run of the month for us this morning and we really enjoyed our first bit of trail running in a while! It wasn’t about the miles or pace, we just had fun and messed around in the sunshine ☀️
Hope everyone had a great May 🙌🏻 Bring it on June!! 💪

On Monday Paul will hit 1,000 days sober. To celebrate this he is putting together a YouTube video to share his journey and the connection with his addiction to drink and now what some people call his addiction to running.
If anyone wants to ask any questions on giving up drinking, just send them over or ask in the comments below and he will answer them on Monday’s video 🙌

This was after the lights went out during The Tunnel 200 mile ultra marathon earlier this year. It gives a whole new meaning to tunnel vision! 🤣 Full respect to the 8 finishers who completed it between 49h 05mins and 54h 49mins (the cut off is 55 hours).
Extreme 🏆🏆

This was the start of The Tunnel 200 mile ultra marathon this year. It was a DNF for both of us. Paul will be taking on this crazy extreme event again next year, so he has 292 days to get his body and mind ready 💪
