🏆⛳ Club Championships 2026 ⛳🏆 The sun shone across both days of this year's Club Championships as a field of 100 members took on a course presented in superb condition.

Saturday's testing pin positions proved a real challenge and quickly separated the contenders from the chasing pack, while Sunday's scoring reflected the endurance and determination of those returning for a second round.

Congratulations to Ben Tyrrell, who produced two outstanding rounds for a gross total of 140, securing both the Jack Birch Championship Salver and the Leslie Dare Cup in impressive style, finishing seven shots clear of the field 👏👏

⛳️ Good luck Glen ⛳️

Everyone at Came Down Golf Club will be cheering on Glen Watt as he heads to Ferndown Golf Club on 22nd June to compete in Regional Qualifying for The Open Championship.

Glen goes into qualifying in great form, having recently claimed victory at the Army Strokeplay Championships at Little Aston… where this photo was taken. 🏆

Earning a place in Regional Qualifying is a fantastic achievement in itself, and we're incredibly proud to see a Came Down member testing his game against some of the region’s finest golfers for a chance to progress towards golf's oldest and most prestigious major championship. 👏🏌️‍♂️

⛳️ Hole No.1 Casterbridge par 4 ⛳️ Standing on the first tee you have a beautiful view of Dorchester. This view gives the hole its name ‘Casterbridge’ taken from Thomas Hardy’s name for Dorchester. A generous opening hole that plays downhill, often with the prevailing wind at your back.

⛳️ Pro Tip - Take care with your approach shot as you play downhill to a green that slopes away from you. Anything left above the hole risks an opening three-putt.

We’re excited to welcome golfers from across the county and beyond and have a few spaces remaining. 🏆🏌

👥 Teams of four - two men & two ladies
⛳ Bowmaker format (one gent and one lady to score on each hole)

Entry Fees:
✔️ Visitors: £96 per team
✔️ Members: £40 per team

🏆 The Norah Walne Trophy 🏆

Congratulations to Liz and Phil Marsden, who claimed victory in the Norah Walne Trophy mixed competition with an impressive score of 47 points. 👏⛳

A closely contested event saw Sue Stokey and Andy White finish as runners-up on 45 points, with Cathy Williams and Ian Davies just behind on 44 points.

To cap off a fantastic day, Liz and Phil also scooped the Twos Pot, recording the only 2 of the day on the 12th hole!

Well played to everyone who took part.

📅 The Mixed Section's next trophy competition is the Audrey Preston Salver on Sunday 13th September, played in a 4 Ball Better Ball format.

New players are always welcome, with booking via BRS opening on Friday 21st August. ⛳️😊

⛳️ Celebrating 20 Years of Service at Came Down Golf Club ⛳️ Club President Brian Hansford and members of the Board of Management joined our Greenkeeping Team to recognise the very special milestone for Head Greenkeeper, James Lockwood.

James joined the club on 1st June 2006 and, over the past two decades, has dedicated himself to developing his knowledge, skills and expertise. In 2021, he was appointed Head Greenkeeper and now leads our talented and professional greenkeeping team, who work tirelessly to present the course to the high standards our members and visitors enjoy.

His passion, commitment and leadership have played a huge part in the continued success and reputation of Came Down Golf Club, and we are incredibly grateful for everything he has contributed over the years.

Join us in thanking James, for his loyal service. We look forward to seeing what the next 20 years bring! 👏💚
