Armthorpe Rovers vs APR u9 reds đź”´

Armthorpe was the venue for APR’s penultimate game of the season, and it did not disappoint.

The first quarter began and APR were straight out the blocks. Moving the ball around accurately, and it wasn’t long until the Armthorpe keeper was called into action. Forced into a fine save denying Louis a goal.
It wasn’t long until the next attempt at a goal, but this time the crossbar denying Fletchers attempt from just outside the box.
The fine play continued from APR and a further four attempts at the armthorpe goal were had, the last from Fletcher forcing a fine acrobatic save from the Armthorpe keeper.
Armthorpe had their moments on the counter, and it was them who took the lead when a ball over the top was latched onto and finished well.
But this didn’t deter APR and they pushed for the equaliser with only fine defending and goalkeeping denying them.
Towards the end of the quarter APR were unfortunate not to be awarded what appeared to be a stonewall penalty, with Harry being taken out whilst baring down on goal.
The whistle blew to close out what was one of APR’s finest quarters of the season.

Into the second quarter and it was a much more even affair. Both teams enjoying great passages of play. Solid APR defending from Luke and Isaac restricted any Armthorpe efforts at goal.
APR played into great areas, and produced great crosses into the box which wouldn’t quite find their target.

Into the third and both teams continued to play great football. Armthorpe quickly brought a fine save out of Max in the APR goal.
APR had attempts of their own which also brought saves out of the Armthorpe keeper.
Armthorpe doubled their advantage when a corner kick was turned in first time with a tidy finish.
But APR continued to probe and knew that the way they were playing, chances of their own will continue to come.
The headline of the quarter came with 5 minutes remaining, when a storm came in. Torrential rain, howling winds and some hailstones thrown in.
To both sets of players credit, they showed unbelievable character to continue playing, unfazed and to a very good standard in what was treacherous conditions. Well done boys 👏👏👏

For a moment it seemed the last quarter may not happen with the weather, but like a flick of a switch, the storm passed and the sun came out. It was destiny for this last quarter to happen, much to the joy of the spectators.
The good football continued from both sets of players, both teams working opposing keepers.
With 6 minutes remaining the games intensity went up a notch. Max picked up the ball on the left flank, cut inside and unleashed an unstoppable shot which flew into the far top corner. Unbelievable strike!!!
The last six minutes were then frantic, from one end to the other, attack after attack. APR were so close to the deserved equaliser when fine work from Frankie on the left saw his cross fractionally missed by an on rushing Harry. So unlucky!!
The whistle blew to end what was an unbelievable game of football.
APR may not have got the result they deserved, but certainly a performance they can be very, very proud of.

Well done boys 👏👏👏

Adwick Park Rangers U7 Red vs Sprotbrough Crusaders U7
Goals: Harry, Harley, Jacob

Adwick Park Rangers U7 Reds had their final league home game of the season against Sprotbrough Crusaders.

Sprotbrough started the stronger side, taking the lead with two early goals and putting APR under pressure. The first half proved challenging, but the team showed great resilience and continued to persevere. APR responded through with a fantastic goal after pressing high and winning the ball, before adding another soon after following a great move involving Harley down the wing. Sprotbrough continued to threaten on the break and extended their lead, but Harry struck again to complete a superb hat-trick and keep APR firmly in the contest.

The opposition then enjoyed a strong spell, scoring three unanswered goals. However, APR refused to give in—and the second half response was improved.

Harley pulled one back with a brilliant long-range strike after winning possession high up the pitch. Moments later, Harry added another after a great breakaway run following a big kick from Jensen in goal.

The comeback was on.

Sprotbrough managed to restore a two-goal cushion, but APR kept pushing. Arthur played a perfectly weighted through-ball for Jacob to finish, and shortly after, Tommie—who was outstanding throughout—won the ball high and set Jacob through again to bring APR level in a fantastic team moment.

In a topsy-turvy finale, Sprotbrough found two late goals, but APR can be proud of their effort to get back into game after being well behined

Player of the Match: Tommie
An outstanding display in midfield—full of energy, enthusiasm, and positivity. A constant presence who helped drive the team forward and played a key role in the comeback.

APR Reds U8s vs Finningley U8s – Match Report

What a game this was—full of energy, drama, and at least two goals that probably need their own highlight reel.

First Quarter
A big moment to kick things off with a debut for Max on the wing, who settled in nicely and got stuck in straight away. Finningley came out flying, peppering the goal with chances, but Haris had clearly decided he was not letting anything past him today. Save after save. At the back, Gabriel was rock solid, while Isaac and Zayd pressed high and made life difficult for the opposition.

Second Quarter
Mikuns stepped into defence and looked calm, composed, and not letting anything through. James and Mahyar came on and immediately caused chaos (the good kind), launching attack after attack. Arthur led the line brilliantly with relentless closing down. Mahyar’s dribbling had defenders spinning, earning a free kick in a dangerous area… and then BOOM—James steps up and absolutely sends one into the top bins. Goal of the season? Very strong contender.

Third Quarter
Finningley came back strong again, throwing everything forward. Haris continued his goalkeeping masterclass with some brilliant saves, though even he couldn’t stop absolutely everything. The pressure was on, but the team kept battling.

Fourth Quarter
APR showed real grit and determination, pushing back and taking control again. Just when it looked like the game was winding down, James decided one screamer wasn’t enough for the day. With what was pretty much the last kick, he unleashed another absolute rocket into the top corner. Cue wild celebrations and probably a few stunned faces.

Parents’ Player of the Match
Gabriel – A defensive wall all game, reading everything and keeping things calm at the back.

Coaches’ Player of the Match
James – Two outrageous goals and a constant threat going forward. Not a bad day at the office!

Goals
James x2 (both certified top-bin specials )

A brilliant team performance full of effort, teamwork, and moments of magic.

Armthorpe Welfare U13 Blue 0-1 Adwick Park Rangers U13 Blue

Kaylum 54

Stunning Strike Seals Hard Fought Win for APR!

APR battled their way to a deserved victory in Armthorpe, overcoming dreadful pitch conditions and a scrappy, long ball contest with a moment of real quality.

From the outset, the pattern was clear: the surface allowed little football, forcing both sides into direct play. APR adapted quickest. A raking ball from Leon sent Denman racing through early on, his low effort skimming just wide. Moments later, Quinn’s deep free kick found Denman again, this time heading narrowly over.
APR controlled much of the first half, pressing well and winning second balls, but Armthorpe remained dangerous on the break. The back three stood firm, with Riley producing several standout challenges to s***f out counters.

Half time: 0–0

The second half followed the same script: APR on the front foot, Armthorpe relying on long balls that Andrew and his defence handled superbly.

Pressure continued to build. A high throw from Lucas led to Quinn firing just over, and Kaylum’s relentless pressing forced a mistake that almost opened the scoring. The breakthrough finally came when APR’s press won possession deep in Armthorpe territory. Kaylum spotted the keeper off his line and executed a superb lifted finish from outside the box, dropping the ball perfectly into the net.

APR pushed for a second and were unlucky not to earn a penalty when Adam appeared to be bundled over, but the referee waved play on. Denman then won a footrace to a long pass from Tommy, beating the outrushing keeper but forced wide, his effort drifting past the post.
The closing minutes brought heavy Armthorpe pressure, but APR’s defensive unit stayed composed, clearing their lines and securing a second consecutive clean sheet.

It was another impressive all-round team performance but the stand out man of the match was centre back Riley.

South Park Rangers U7 Bulls v Adwick Park Rangers U7 Red

Goals: Harry, OG

Adwick Park Rangers faced an away trip to South Park Rangers as they continued their run of games against the divisions stronger teams.

South Park quickly raced into a couple lead but APR focused on the task at hand, trying to play their football and defending in numbers to regain control.

Into the second quarter APR continued to work resolutely, trying to craft openings and came close twice getting a goal back. South Park however further extended their lead with two more goals.

The third quarter APR had a period of pressure. A long range kick from Jensen in Goal, put Harry through on goal and he calmly slotted home to continue his scoring run. South Park replied with another goal to restore their advantage. APR got a second goal, thanks to good work from Harley who pressured the opposing defender into scoring an Own Goal. However South Park replied another goal.

The final quarter, followed the same flow as the first. APR working tirelessly, but South Park quality showed as they scored two more goals to round out the game.

MOTM was Parker. He was strong in the tackle winning the ball back and clearing his lines on multiple occasions.

Sunday 1st February
Edenthorpe U9 ⚫️⚪️ vs APR U9 Reds 🔴

Back on home soil this week as APR take on high flying Edenthorpe in a tricky test.

A new day brought a change in shape for APR but the boys took to it brilliantly. Infact in the first 5 minutes they were unplayable. All the boys worked together to play some amazing one two’s through balls and crosses but that final shot just wasn’t happening. Edenthorpe couldn’t get the ball, but when they did they passed it really well, and took the lead with a well placed strike from the edge of the box. Heads didn’t drop however! APR kept battling and still had some good attacks even a well struck free kick, but Edenthorpe finished the quarter stronger.

This continued into the second quarter with APR just struggling to get the ball to stick to their feet but they maintained a strong defense for a large part of the quarter. One of the Edenthorpe attacks however was successful, a great one two and shot from the side of the box managed to beat the keeper.

While disappointing, the attitude was spot on from APR and kept going into the third quarter and started to pile on the pressure with the quality of the first quarter back on display, Edenthorpe struggled to cope. Harry, Louis, Carter and Frankie kept testing the keeper but I was pulling out some great saves. But the danger was still there with Max making some fantastic saves too keeping the goals at bay.

This pressure let going for a lot of the final quarter and it finally paid off, and pay off it did! A great kick in from Harry to dummy the player and cross to Frankie, who with a deft touch set Max up beautifully to bicycle kick the ball and loop beautifully into the net. What a goal. Everyone went crazy! That was the spark and the attacks kept coming and coming but like at the start there couldn’t be a follow goal. It was a fantastic game and a great attitude from everyone,

Great work APR!!

Final game of the season for Adwick Park Rangers U11 Green and, well… let’s just say it didn’t quite go to the “write your own fairytale ending” script we had in mind.
In fact, if football worked on “who would’ve won if the scores were swapped”, we’d have absolutely cruised it 10–2. Unfortunately, the ref insisted on counting the actual goals… bit harsh if you ask us.

We started bright though and took the lead early doors – scenes of potential glory, parents daring to dream, coaches already planning their end-of-season speech. But Pinfold had other ideas and pulled it back, leaving things nicely poised at half-time.

Second half… well… we’ll call it “character building.” To be fair, the lads kept going and managed to grab another goal for pride, which is more than can be said for some of the adults on the sidelines by that point.

Plenty of positives to take:

A top-tier bacon sandwich (arguably Man of the Match 🥓)

Effort never dropped

And a historic moment… the first time all season a substitute hasn't absolutely leathered my cup of tea across the touchline. Grassroots heritage right there.

Not the result we wanted, but plenty of laughs, memories, and questionable sideline catering choices along the way.

An absolutely solid league performance from our mighty Greens and highlights along the way! Amazing to see how far everyone has come along.

Under 14s:

The morning's warning up, and so it's the football. End to end stuff with both keepers being kept busy. Route one stuff from Epworth causing problems, but holding firm halfway through the first half. Finn down the left causing problems and even takes their keeper's hat off. No clear chances, and it's goalless at halftime. 0-0

More end to end play in the second half. Both goals very nearly breached. Penalty awarded to Epworth and it's rolled in for 1-0. Probably the correct decision. A header narrowly wide and it could have been 2. Down the other end though and their keeper makes a great save. The following corner and Riley very nearly makes amends for the penalty but hits the post and goes agonisingly back across the goal. Pinball ensues, bit we just can't get a clean shot away. A great move down the right and Carlton is strong and finishes really well for the equaliser. 1-1. A breakaway from our corner and with Riley up the pitch their striker gets onto it and tucks it away 1-2. Epworth missing an open goal with a couple of minutes to go. A much better second half performance and Riley charges through past 4 players and it's only a last ditch block that denies him. So close to a deserved point but not to be. FT 1-2.

Under 14s MOM - Carlton Mannion. Lead the line superbly playing up front and scored his first goal for the club!
