🥵 Dancing in a Heatwave: When Looking Cool Becomes a Challenge!
There’s something very glamorous about dancing… until the temperature starts climbing! 😂and here in the UK that’s happening right now - I know 28 -34 is not over hot for some on here but we in the UK 🇬🇧 are not used to it😅
When you’re used to dancing in cooler conditions, a heatwave can completely change the experience. Suddenly, that beautiful ballet 🩰 frame feels heavier, the footwork takes more effort, and maintaining that elegant smile becomes a serious achievement!
And let’s not forget the show costumes. What feels comfortable at a normal temperature can suddenly feel like a full workout sweat suit.
But there’s also something quite special about dancing through the heat.
You discover just how much stamina, control and determination you actually have. You learn to listen to your body, pace yourself, take those much-needed water breaks and keep your technique as clean as possible even when you’re feeling the heat.
The key is not to try to prove how tough you are.
Stay hydrated. Take breaks. Wear appropriate clothing. And listen to your body.
Dancing should be challenging, but it should also be enjoyable.
So, if you’ve been dancing through this heatwave, tell us:
🔥 Which dance genre feels hardest in the heat?
💃 Tap, Ballet, Commercial, Cheer or something else?
🥵 And how are you coping with the temperature?
Let’s hear from everyone in the group!?
My KT Danz Students have been amazing dancing through every one of the heatwaves. We’ve been very sensible having extra water breaks, lots of fan, ventilation and AC, plus wearing just leotards has kept everyone much cooler!
