What a summer it’s been at Fishlake Cricket & Bowls Club! ☀️🏏

From both of us, we want to say a massive THANK YOU to everyone who has supported the club throughout another brilliant season.

From our All Stars and junior cricketers, parents, families and friends, to our senior players, coaches and the amazing volunteers who keep everything running — thank you! 💙

And of course, a huge thank you to the people of Fishlake and the surrounding community. Whether you’ve joined us for cricket, popped in for food or a drink, supported an event or celebrated with us at a private booking, your support means so much.

🏏 There’s been plenty to celebrate on the field too! Our juniors have developed brilliantly, our 1st XI finished 4th in Division 6, while our 2nd XI secured PROMOTION to Division 8! 👏🏆 A massive well done to everyone involved!

🍻🍕 You’ve certainly kept us busy behind the bar and in the kitchen too! From matchdays and Friday nights to events and functions, every pint poured, pizza cooked and plate served helps support our volunteer-run club — so a genuine thank you from us both!

The cricket may be finished, but we’re not disappearing! 👀 We’ll continue opening the bar & kitchen on selected Friday evenings throughout winter, so keep an eye on our socials for updates.

🏏💙💛 FISHLAKE CC 2ND XI SECURE PROMOTION! 💛💙🏏

Fishlake CC 222–6 beat Mexborough Cricket Club 134 all out by 88 runs

DIVISION 8… HERE WE COME! ⬆️🏆

What a way to finish the 2026 season! Our 2nd XI signed off in style with another brilliant victory and, most importantly, promotion to Division 8! 👏

🏏 FISHLAKE – 222/6 (40 overs)

Fishlake batted first and put together an excellent 222–6, with Hiren Jeyakanth and Liam Coetzee both retiring on 50. The middle order kept the scoreboard moving with contributions from John Kemp (21), Neil Dudley (20), Jack Smithies (16) and Dominic Johnson (15)*.

Credit to the Mexborough bowlers, particularly Michael Cashmore, who kept the lads working hard for their runs throughout.

🍽️ After another fantastic Fishlake tea, it was time for the bowlers to get to work — and they certainly did!

🎯 Jude Hubbard – 3 wickets
🎯 Joe Radovanovic – 2 wickets
🎯 Andrew Reilly – 2 wickets
🎯 Jack Smithies – 2 wickets

Mexborough were eventually bowled out for 134 in 28.3 overs, sealing an 88-run victory and a thoroughly deserved promotion! 🏆

But a season like this doesn’t happen without the people behind the scenes.

A massive thank you to every single volunteer who has helped make this season the success it has been. Without you, none of it would be possible. 💙💛

🌱 JD and Neil — for putting in countless hours to give us a playing surface we can be incredibly proud of week after week.

🍽️ Tracey — for constantly going above and beyond with our cricket teas. And we’re not just saying they’re good — Fishlake has officially been named as having one of the TOP 3 cricket teas in Yorkshire! 🏆🍰🥪 A fantastic achievement and recognition that is thoroughly deserved after all the hard work that goes into them every single week!

🍺 Jade — for making sure there’s always plenty of the wet stuff available to keep our village cricketers suitably hydrated after a hard day’s cricket! 😂🍻

And finally, a huge thank you to Mexborough Athletic for some brilliant battles this season. We’ve genuinely enjoyed playing against you and we’ll miss having you on the fixture list next year. Hopefully our paths cross again very soon! 🤝

And just like that… we’ve reached the final Saturday of the 2026 season! What a season it’s been for both of our senior sides. 🙌

Our 1st XI head away to Parkhead CC for their final game, while our 2nd XI finish the season at Pinfold Lane against Mexborough Athletic 2nds.

👏 Come and get behind the lads one last time! Whether you’re travelling to support the 1s or joining us at Fishlake for the 2s, get yourselves on the boundary and cheer the Lakers on to finish the season in style! 🏏

🍻 AND THE DAY DOESN’T END WHEN THE CRICKET DOES…

After the games, come down to the clubhouse — or stay behind if you’re already with us — and enjoy a drink with the teams as we celebrate the end of another fantastic season.

🏏💙💛 THE FINAL SATURDAY OF 2026… AND WHAT A SEASON IT’S BEEN! 💛💙🏏

And just like that, we’ve reached the final game of the season! 🥹

What a year it has been for Fishlake Cricket Club. Week after week, the lads have shown commitment, determination, fight and, most importantly, what it means to play as a team. 💙💛

There’s been plenty of highs, a few lows, some brilliant individual performances and even better team performances — but the way everyone has stuck together and played for each other has been fantastic to see.

And going into the final weekend, we’ve got A LOT to celebrate! 👏

🏏💙 1ST XI – DIVISION 6 SECURED! 💙🏏

Our 1st XI have secured their place in Division 6 for the 2027 season. Another season of Division 6 cricket awaits and the lads will be looking to finish this campaign strongly when they travel away to Parkhead for their final game.

BUT THEN THERE’S OUR 2s… 👀⬆️

Last weekend made it official — Fishlake 2nd XI will be playing DIVISION 8 cricket in 2027! 🙌🙌

What an achievement from this group of lads! 💙💛

Promotion isn’t earned from one good Saturday. It comes from turning up week after week, putting in the performances, fighting for every point and pulling together when it matters.

Every player who has represented the 2s this season has played their part, and they should all be incredibly proud of what they’ve achieved.

From the captaincy and the performances on the pitch to everyone who has stepped up when called upon — this has been a proper team effort from start to finish.

🏏💙💛 WHAT A NIGHT FOR OUR JUNIORS! 💛💙🏏

What a fantastic evening we had for our Junior Presentation Night — and what a brilliant way to celebrate another season at Fishlake! 🏆🌟

The evening started with plenty of games, activities and fun for the children before we moved onto the presentations, celebrating our brilliant All Stars, U9s and U11s and everything they’ve achieved this season.

But the biggest THANK YOU has to go to absolutely everyone who has played a part in making our junior season possible. 💙💛

To our coaches and volunteers who give up their time week after week, our parents and families for getting the children to training and matches and supporting from the sidelines, and everyone who helps behind the scenes — we really couldn’t do it without you. 👏

And, of course, a huge thank you to every single child who has trained, played, learned, laughed and represented Fishlake this season. Seeing you enjoying your cricket is exactly what the junior section is all about! 🏏

The bar and kitchen were certainly kept busy all evening too! 🍻🍕🍴 A massive thank you to everyone who helped serve, cook, clear up and keep everything running throughout such a busy night — and thank you to everyone who supported the bar and kitchen. It really is appreciated. 💙

It takes a lot of people giving up their time to keep a volunteer-run club and junior section going, and nights like this show exactly what a fantastic little community we have at Fishlake. 🥰
