Weekend’s here again, and with St Leger weekend in Donny, there’s only one place to spend those winnings… Independent Tackle & Bait. 🎣

There’s loads going on in store at the minute, with far too many deals to fit on the boards, so you’ll have to come in and have a proper look.

We’ve been busy improving the shop again too, with more room made for reels, the scales moved around and even more of the higher-end reels now on display behind the counter.

A new one for us this week is Hinders. We’ve been asked plenty of times for their Elips pellets, especially by the barbel lads, so we’ve listened. We’ve also brought in a selection of their hookbaits and liquids.

There are also new Evolve leaders in store, with inline, heli and lead clip systems among the range, plus plenty of freezer boilies from the likes of CC Moore, DNA and Mainline.

With the weather starting to turn, we’ve got plenty of waterproof footwear, warm clothing and chest waders in store, along with deals across chairs, bedchairs and barrows.

And yes… the sale rails are starting to look a bit TK Maxx. Plenty of fishing clothing to rummage through, plus the Avid Carp Revolve waterproof suits in sizes from Small through to 4XL.

40 YEARS OF NUTRABAITS 🎣

One of the original names in carp bait, Nutrabaits celebrates its 40th anniversary this year

Started by Bill Cottam and Tim Paisley, the brand is still going strong today, with Richard Hughes and Jason Callaghan now at the helm

Mark’s been using Nutrabaits himself for the past few years, and in the video he shares a little edge that’s been working for him this year 👀

His mix starts with Big Fish Mix and Energizer 50/50, but it’s the 8mm pellets where he adds a bit extra

A couple of days before fishing, Mark gives the pellets a good splash of Activator, shakes them up and leaves it to soak right in. Then another dose before heading fishing for an extra hit of attraction

Add plenty of boilies, some chopped boilies and, in Mark’s words, the mandatory tin of corn for a bit of visual 👌

Wafters or hard hookers over the top and the rest is down to being in the right place at the right time

And as Mark says...

“If I can catch it, imagine what you can do with it” 😂

1980s fishing… was it actually better back then? 🎣

Tackle has come a LONG way since the 80s

Rods, reels, poles, lines, hooks, bite alarms, fish finders, bait… pretty much everything we use has advanced massively

But has all that technology actually made fishing better?

And what about the waters themselves? Were the venues, fish stocks and fishing better back then, or would you take what we’ve got today every time?

We reckon this one could divide a few opinions 👀
