Sooo after a quiet few weeks on the page we’ve decided it’s about time we started posting more. The match start very quickly for the away team with a long ball over the defence a flick to another player and they are 1-0 up. From then onwards we started playing the ball a bit better. Not long after the opener Aiden is brought down for a free kick around 25 yards out. Up he steps to take the free kick and smashes it home. 5 minutes in the game is all level. It stay this way up to half time we both teams having chances and some great defending from both teams.

Second half seen a change of formation. Which made us look stronger going forward, was a very even game all round at times. We nearly pulled in front with a strike from about 20 yards from our centre half Reece, But their keeper made a great save. Around the 70 minute mark and a couple of changes saw us bring some fresh legs on. Not long after that the balls landed at harouna’s feet who finished nicely over the keeper to put grey 2-1 up. After this it seemed to be all Wheatley with some great defending we managed to see the game out.

Absolute credit to lads that showed up, with a depleted squad getting the three points felt every better. Proud of every single one of the lads today.

MAN OF MATCH—- Ellis Pepper… Well done lad well deserved.

Another great day at the office for Yorkshire Grey FC. Following on from a hard fought draw last week it was another hard fought win today. Played some nice football right from the off without really affecting their back line too much. That was until a peach of an assist from Ollie Key, who found the main man Ryan evans with a delightful touch and calmly slotted it past the keeper. We wasn’t in the lead for long though some poor defending and a massive deflection from the shot levelled the game.

We pushed onto another gear after this a ball over the top for Ryan lead to a penalty given after their keeper committed GBH 👀😂😂 Ryan unfortunately had to be subbed off but Ellis stepped up and slotted it home to put us in front, for the first of his hatrick. Again more nice football from Yorkshire Grey lead to a scramble on the edge of the box for the ball to be picked up on the edge by Ellis who with some lovely feet saw the net open in front of him with another lovely finish. Score stayed the same till Half time.

Second half we started slow. Think all the lad was too busy dreaming about an after match pint as we conceded two in quick concession. Levelling the game once more, the home team did start to get involved more bringing the ball done and playing some nice football but some nice defending kept the game 3-3.

Innings eventually win a free kick which couldn’t have been finished off any better was a belter of a goal nothing our keeper could’ve done. For the first time in the game we was trailing it seemed to have kick us up the backside and we came back on top again

We got another when Ellis collecting the ball just inside the box and calmly slotted home for his hattrick, top off a fantastic performance from him. The game stayed level till the last 10 minutes where a fantastic ball came in from right side and smart header from Nick won us the game.

Credit to all the lads today battled hard again. Another 3 points in the board.

Grey started the game strong pushing them. The football was flowing and chances were coming but could seem to make them stick. Some quick feet and silky skills led us to getting our first penalty of the game. Which was calmly slotted home for his first on his debut for Ryan. After the first the other team slowly started to press in which our defence stayed strong, our club captain did well and won us a free kick which he then sent over the top for Ellis to slot home his first with a class finish. Not much longer some dazzling feet from Ryan sent defender spinning to then slot it in to bottom corner from edge of box.
This gave us a 3-0 lead going into half time a 45 minutes of fantastic football.

The second half we started slow but didn’t get punished for it luckily. Some quick feet from Ellis who was brought done in box, some how it wasn’t a penalty but it fell to jeyson who won us the second penalty of the game which again was calm slotted home from Ryan for his hat trick on debut.
They did pull one back however which led from some poor defending and not closing the man down. This seemed to kick start the lads again who started playing some good fast football which led to a lovely through ball from Ryan for Ellis to put it over the keeper again putting the score to 5-1.
They did start getting on top of us again but the defence held strong, leading us to come out with a 5-1 win and first three points of the season in our first game
