⚠️ WEATHER WARNING FOR DONCASTER THIS WEEK ⚠️
Doncaster is set for very hot temperatures this week, with weather and heat-health alerts in place across Yorkshire and the Humber. Health officials are warning that prolonged heat can affect everyone, especially older people, young children, those with health conditions, and anyone living alone.
How you can help keep loved ones safe and cool:
✅ Check in on elderly relatives, neighbours, and vulnerable friends regularly.
✅ Encourage everyone to drink plenty of water throughout the day.
✅ Keep curtains and blinds closed in sunny rooms to help homes stay cooler.
✅ Avoid strenuous activities during the hottest part of the day (11am–3pm).
✅ Wear light, loose-fitting clothing and stay in the shade whenever possible.
✅ Never leave children, older adults, or pets in parked vehicles.
✅ If possible, plan walks, exercise, and outdoor activities for early morning or later evening.
✅ Know the signs of heat exhaustion: dizziness, headache, excessive sweating, nausea, and tiredness.
A quick phone call, text message, or visit could make a huge difference to someone struggling in the heat.
