After a great show last Sunday in their first pre-season friendly, our ladies are wasting no time and are back at home this Sunday against Dearne & District Ladies, another tough opposition.

Last Sunday was a great game for the neutral so don't miss out this weekend.

Today's game against Pontefract Collieries Women's and Girl's FC Blues ended in a draw. Both sides created a host of chances but only registered a goal apiece.

It was an excellent game for the neutral and played in great spirit. We will miss our league fixtures against a wonderful group of ladies next season, but we are we will arrange another friendly fixture in the future.

A hard-earned point, hailstones and some progress on the field.

We all expected the season to be finished by now, but that's not the case. We are cramming games in all over the place, which means we have more injuries, more outside football commitments, and more holidays for some of the lucky ones.

Yesterday, we travelled to Featherstone with 10 players, 4 carrying knocks. Under the circumstances, we gave a very good account of ourselves.

We battled through the first half, scoring early when Leah finished a well-worked team goal. After that we struggled to get into a rhythm and conceded the equalizer mid-way through the first half.

At halftime, we had a long chat about how we needed to press higher, and the ladies put that plan into immediate action. For fifteen to twenty minutes, we pushed up the field, pressed high and with renewed intensity, and were in complete control.

During that period we missed a penalty, hit the crossbar and created numerous chances, which we would have taken on a different day.

POTM was a tough call between two players, Jill and Sarah, with Jill just shading it due to a very strong second-half performance.

It's miserable outside, and it's forecast to get even more miserable, but the BWAFC Ladies aren't miserable. Why?

It's MATCHDAY and we all love match day.

It gives us a chance to bounce back from Friday's cup defeat and, even more importantly, to try new things in the run-up to our first season in the County league.

Following yesterday's WBL Cup Final, we have to pick ourselves up, ice the bruises and knocks, and regroup, ready for tomorrow's return to league action against a tough Monk Fryston team.

As always, we are ready and raring to go, so if you are looking for a footy fix (other than the Play-off final), get yourself down and cheer the ladies on.
