Well, it was time for the final round of the UK Angling Champs and was the venue.
I’d had a half decent run in this years event, but a bad day at Decoy meant I needed a result to stay top half of the pile, so the draw was key today…… drew a cracker, peg 22 so a carp match it was 😎.
I’ve gone all out rod attack today, left the pole in the van. A quick chat with Andy Kinder who gave some tips and said I had a chance of the win, so seemed I was in for a day at least.
I’ve set up a few rods today, short method and bomb, hybrid on the long line at 70/80mtr and the trusty waggler as a few were mulling around.
Tried something new bait wise n’all today, went all out and wasn’t to be disappointed.
Started on the long chuck for a fruitless first hour, gave it ten mins for a play on the waggler and decided to just bang out the hybrid as far as I could…… 30 seconds into the settle and it’s flown round, a resident lump graced the net.
Wasn’t long before another 3 were in the bag, and it was looking good but as per all my matches, I’ve had a quiet couple lf hours 😩.
I’ve stuck to the long line with no one catching short, and managed to units in the last half hour which were very welcomed.
Ended the match with 7 carp, weighing in 47lb for a section second, pipped to the win by 3lb 😩.
Ended the competition in 35th position, not a million miles away from the top 20 so a vast improvement on last year 💪.
Massive well done to that man Andy Power Angling, the kids unreal 👀.
Looking forward to next year, it’s a great event run brilliantly 😎.
