Yorkshire Main reds 4-3 Highgreen
Finally after a break in the weather and a home pitch that’s been rested since November, a great result for us to start the second half of the season . Reds fielded 11 , no subs , no recognised keeper but they played with massive hearts for 90 mins . Goals from Slawomir Ostrowski and Shaun Orten saw us go in 2-1 up at half time.
With Highgreen having a full squad changes were made at halftime and did they come at us straight from the off , main dug in and defended with everything they had .
A further goal from Lee Hayes gave us some breathing space before Highgreen closed the gap once again from the spot . A fourth from Slawomir looked like it was game over but then a scrappy goal from Highgreen made it 4-3 but with only 1 minute left to play . We held on to get the win with a second half seeming like it lasted almost an hour due to extra time . 3 points earned in a match full of chances for main , so good to see we have the fitness to see a game out .

Yorkshire main reds 1-3 Dinnington
Second defeat of the season , the signs were there from how we played last week and today was worse , we are very out of form and not playing the football we can do . It’s difficult to find a positive thing to say but we have to keep going and try to find form again , no excuses just work at it

Frickley cc 1 -1 Yorkshire main reds
A good game that escaped all the weather and this new 4 g Frickley pitch was perfect to play on . We didn’t start off bad but we found Frickley hard to break down and eventually we earned a penalty which was put away by Hippie ( Richard Riley ) , a couple of close misses by main meant we went in at half time 1-0 up . Second half under way and it can only be described as an even contest as neither side could find a way to get the next goal , a frustrating game at times but one that required 110% concentration to not slip up , a couple of sin bins disrupted main and we can’t afford ill discipline, as we went into extra time Frickley got a direct free kick from just outside the penalty area which they scored from basically the last kick of the game in a very unexplainable 6 minutes added on !

West End 2 -5 Yorkshire main reds
A great game only spoiled by the ref , both teams were physically equal but it was west end that got off to a good start with a penalty given for handball , main soon got the equaliser and controlled most of the play to get another goal to make it 2-1 to main at half time.
2 nd half underway we continued playing good football and creating the better chances to dominate play with another 2 goals , then with a sending off and main down to 10 we managed to grab a 5 th rewarding the players for all their efforts, west end replied scoring a goal with the last kick of the game from a free kick, this sat reds are away to Frickley2.15 ko , whites are at home to Kiveton 2 pm ko

Result
Highgreen 4-0 Yorkshire main reds
A taste of defeat , still 2nd in the league isn’t a bad position to be in , respectable but the scoreline isn’t so well done Highgreen for being on the front foot and not letting us get into the game . On this particular game we had players playing at 60/70%fit with injuries not quite healed but as a squad we played to fulfill the fixture . Hopefully it’s a small setback and we continue to look to build going into next season. On a positive note I’d like to thank players for efforts funding matchballs , essentials for Matchday and monetary donations, a great set of players going beyond normally what is expected, stay positive, enjoy the football , and friendships football offers , great to talk to some of my old teammates from Highgreen after the game , another good bunch 😊

With Mains pitch in very good condition and a day perfect for a run around , we did exactly that for 90 mins ! We started firing on all cylinders 1 quick goal and quite a few missed chances could have easily took us 4-0 up after 20 mins but we let them get 1 shot on goal which went into the keepers gloves but failed to hold and crept into our net 1-1 half time . Change of tactics in the 2 nd half saw goal after goal as Frickley tired finishing 6-1 full time which takes us 2 point clear at top and 3 goals better goal difference , scores were

Always great to win but even better to still be able to play football, next week away to my old team Highgreen let’s keep it going

Well 5 games in , the only team left unbeaten is ourselves which isn’t a bad start for our first season with new faces now settling in , it’s good to see most of the pre season lads did sign for us , one or two didn’t stay due to not feeling it which is their choice and it’s good to see that when we’ve played against them they can now see us as a united unit .
Not posted anything for around 3 weeks but all I can say is how well we are playing and working for each other , just all positives so who knows we could go top with a win v Frickley this Saturday

Just a couple of recent results , last weekend saw Yorkshire main whites play their 2 nd game of the new season losing 5-0 in Div1 , the game started off well for main until a serious injury forced off Mark Rollinson , with main losing an attacking edge the game became more dominating for Pomona who had a great deal of substitutes to keep on applying pressure, credit to main for trying to get something out of the game and never gave up .
This sat saw the reds (div2 ) play their 2 nd game resulting in a 3-3 draw against Ball inn , main saw themselves 2 goals down first goal coming from an interception and cracked into mains net from 25 yards , 2 nd coming from a similar distance catching the keeper way off the line but main rolled their very soggy sleeves up and got back to 2-1 before half time then equalised in the second half , main were on the up looking for a third to get hit against the run of play to make it 3-2 to ball inn finally finishing 3-3 with a first goal for Lee isle to earn a point for main . We’ve still to settle down and play football , hopefully a win v dinnington next week to calm the nerves

Mixed results on the 1st day of the new season with newly promoted Yorkshire main 45s whites going down to a 5-2 loss against Wickersley in Division 1 of the Wragg league and Newly formed Reds starting with a 6-1 win against Hillsborough Park Vets in Div2 in what I can say was a hotly contested game , luckily main’s players finished without any serious injuries and move onto their next game in 2 weeks against Ball inn

Next week is the start of Yorkshire main reds first ever season in the Wragg league over 45 s , five games played whilst building a team is quite an achievement, I hope we continue to build and improve our squad throughout the season and so thanks to all the players that took part in our start up pre season .
