Last night was a big milestone for the club, with our first DCC girls match against Keymer & Hassocks CC and was a huge success… it even ended in a tie!

The sun shone and the cricket was of great quality. You couldn’t have scripted it better. Thanks to Will Frappell for making it all happen. And an honourable mention to Ed, Rufus, Fin and Connor who came down to help with our AllStars and to coach the under 13s.

We’re so proud of our DCC girls 💚💛

Teams for tomorrow’s games are out!!

You’ll notice the 2nd team is looking a little short… so see this post as an appeal to find the final two to make up another belter XI.

Whoever pops their names in the hat gets a pint or two on the skipper (he doesn’t know this yet).

There will be some post-game festivities at the Ling as tomorrow is the Ditchling Fair, so please make a stop and show your support on your scarecrow Tour de Ling.

We were so enjoying our pre-season player profiles that we forgot to introduce this seasons club captains.

After stepping up as caretaker captain last year, Hamish Nolan has been appointed first team captain, having made his 1st XI debut at just nine years old. Ted Carr, a DCC academy graduate, has been a key player for a number of years now and brings youthful enthusiasm, whilst continuing to rise to the challenge of added responsibility in the role.

The 2nd XI are marshalled by Doug Porter again this season, with Dom Murphy at his side. The pair had an excellent first year together last season, achieving promotion, and continue to do a magnificent job blending youth and experience to create a fun and positive atmosphere. Success on the pitch has followed and another strong season would appear to be on the way.

Lastly, an honourable mention to Peter Billinghay (Binsey), who takes on the role of a second vice captain to Doug in the 2nd XI. He is a key member of the club on and off the pitch, and works tirelessly to drive us towards success 💚💛

Same same but different (see last post for height difference)

The 1s are celebrating a win after a beautiful and swift 102 from Finlay Coburn, with a boundary off the last ball of the innings to seal it. Chris ‘Test Match’ Atkinson selflessly getting Fin on strike for the final ball.

A loss for the 2s but some positives in that we had three U13s playing today and all three did a great job - well done to Ollie, Will and Hector (Harold) on making your adult debuts for The Ling.

Up the Ling 💚💛

Ditchling U10s triumphed against Preston Nomads this morning, winning by 20 runs with notable performances from DCC players Kit and Charlie 🏏💥

More cricket to come with the 1st XI at home and the 2nd XI away at Dormansland. Tough one to follow after the juniors’ strong performance this morning. Perfect day to pop down and support our seniors.
