What is your motivation? Have you put something in place to support yourself? If not, what gets in your way?

Perhaps these questions may help you decide…

SENSATION: Are you in pain or looking to maintain the efficiency in your body?

Your body will speak, and if you ignore it generally shouts louder until you take notice or have to stop because it forces you to. It’s actually trying to keep you safe but deflecting away from listening won’t help. Listening and taking action is preventative and restoring.

AWARENESS: Perhaps you are now aware that you need to take some action to support your body and health? Now what? Time to mobilise yourself…

MOBILISATION: We offer private classes or group equipment or Mat classes.

TIME FOR ACTION: Trial a class before committing to a block. Email [email protected].

My fees reflect my qualifications experience and skill level, this is not a large superficial class. Invest in the quality of our classes and in yourself- you are worth it.

We work in blocks to support your commitment and therefore allowing time for the effectiveness of the exercises, this is not a quick fix. You will need to take accountability to show up each week and with support we will be by your side.

Stepping out of our comfort zone and taking a leap of faith, this is often the hardest part and where many of us don’t follow our needs through- so what’s getting in your way?

Do you make yourself the last priority or perhaps your inner critic is having a strong objection? The hardest part is getting past this inner voice and with compassion, kindness and respect taking yourself by the hand and doing it anyway, even if it frightens or you really don’t want to- once you are on the mat we can support you.

Do something differently and you might see a different perspective. We only have one body, putting on your own oxygen mask first is imperative to be able to support others.

Why choose V Pilates Mat classes?

V Pilates group Mat classes offer a mindful movement embodied approach to Pilates, for whole body health. Exercises are performed mostly on the mat, using small pieces of equipment such as balls, rollers and bands. There are a maximum of 10 participants per class to allow for attention to detail.

Purpose built dedicated bespoke Pilates studio, fully equipped, relaxing and warm.

Join us for one off trial class (£13.50) before committing to the full term's fees. We operate in term blocks versus drop in classes to support your commitment and to get the most out of your classes.

Studio director, Vikki has over 30 years experience as a movement teacher, and is continually developing her skills as a communicator and observer. As a fully accredited Polestar Pilates practitioner, including teaching using the specialist equipment, Vikki is also an Educator in training and mentor to Polestar Pilates students and graduates on the teacher training programmes. Vikki is currently in her third year of training to be a Psychotherapist with Homa London.

Vikki's teaching offers resources for dynamic stability, resilience and adaptability to help navigate the ever changing challenges of life in today's world. She has a unique ability to enlighten clients to be more 'awake' to their current global climate, with more focus on presence and accountability.

This weeks theme in class is Follow, Follow, Follow…….pilates is a journey, process not a destination.

Meditation or Mindfulness?

These two words often used interchangeably with little understanding of the difference, however they are interrelated.

The mind is like an ocean. Deep beneath the surface is calm and clear no matter what the conditions at the surface. From this place you can look up at the surface and notice. Paying attention to your breath is like an anchor bringing you into this calm place where you can observe the mental chatter on the surface above. Meditation is not an inquiry or exploration into what you notice, a place of stillness to slide into the down regulation of the parasympathetic nervous system and rest and digest mode.

Being mindful or tuning in is deliberately focusing our attention and bringing awareness to our thoughts, feelings and physical sensations with curiosity, compassion and kindness. A portal to change and integrating the body mind map. Tuning in to acknowledge whatever arises, allowing without judgment, to investigate with curiosity and nurture with kindness our own internal state and traits. To pause, see, soften, breathe, welcome and smile into the process.

Mindfulness is an in depth manual of the mind to help grow awareness and a way of integrating all parts of the brain systems from the primal instincts of the brain stem and reptilian brain, often where fast thinking, reactivity and fight, flight or freeze reside. The mammalian Limbic area of the brain is where our emotions and feelings are coloured to literally move us or to state shift. To our more evolved Neocortex area of the brain where receptibility, slower thinking, flexibility and higher stages of psychological development are processed. Integrating all three domains opens the potential for choice to respond rather than spontaneously react. A window of tolerance opened where integrity and stability flows rather than chaos or rigidity.

Finding the spine, a pathway within.

The spine forms the central axis of support throughout the body, around which the rest of the body spreads out. A moving pathway between head and pelvis that maintains essential length, width and depth of the body, and allows vital functioning of the heart, lungs and digestion. The legs and arms take root in the spine . The many bones of the spine protect the nervous system and spinal cord that flows downwards from the brain branching out into the periphery. If the spine shortens and the spinal nerves are fractionally compressed or irritated, numbness and pain will come.
