What a brilliant Captain’s Day hosted by Andrew Roberts.
From start to finish, the day had everything. A golf course presented in fantastic condition, great weather, great company, and a superb atmosphere around the club. Andrew’s message throughout his captaincy has been all about community, and nowhere was that more evident than on Saturday.
The balcony had a real LIV/ Party hole Golf-style buzz throughout the afternoon and evening, with over 100 members and guests staying on after their rounds to celebrate together. It was fantastic to see so many people enjoying the occasion and making the most of what was a very special day for the club.
A huge thank you must go to Andrew’s wife Bridget and the rest of his family. Their support throughout the year has been incredible, and on Captain’s Day they went above and beyond, helping to feed more than 160 golfers from the halfway hut. It was a tremendous effort and very much appreciated by everyone who played.
It was also great to see another milestone for the club, with our first-ever Ladies Prize awarded on Captain’s Day.
The scoring at the top of the leaderboard was simply outstanding:
🥉 3rd Place – Martin Hopwood – Nett 64
🥈 2nd Place – Simon Howarth – Nett 63
🥇 Captain’s Day Champion 2026 – Alan Fish – Nett 62
A special round of golf from Alan to take the title on one of the biggest days of the year.
We must also mention the amazing achievement of a hole in 1 on the 15th, by Dave Woodhead.
Congratulations to all the prize winners, and thank you to everyone who played, supported, volunteered and helped create such a memorable day. Days like these remind us what makes Disley Golf Club such a special place.
