This week Dinton made the journey to New Milton & District Rugby Club where they would play their return fixture

As the end of the season draws to an end and the warm weather comes out to play, Dinton look forward to ending the season on a high

New Milton’s skipper won the toss, so they decided to have the wind advantage in the first half, this meant that Dinton started off the match

New Milton received the kick off and out of the blocks they went, testing Dinton’s defence to the full and getting the first score on the board

Dinton quickly replied with a driving maul off a line out, which Skipper Lewis Simmons gathered and bowled his way over the line

New Milton quickly replied with a couple more tries which put the barbarians on the back foot

As the first half came to an end ba ba’s outside centre Robbie Gill dived over the line to add to the score line 22-10

New Milton kicked off the second half where Dinton now had the wind advantage, but unfortunately it didn’t seem to matter, as New Milton were on the winning war path

New Milton managed to score another few tries, which looked like it might put the game to bed

But the barbarians weren’t ready to admit defeat just yet, with 10 minutes left on the clock the scoreline was 38-17 to New Milton

It seemed like Dinton finally woke up, with phase after phase of pure power, resulted in try’s coming from Elliott Fox, Lewis Hunt, Steffon Britton and Matt Hogarth

This left the scoreline 36-38 to New Milton and Dinton had one last attack with the clock turning red

Unfortunately for Dinton it wasn’t meant to be, as the ball was knocked on and the final whistle blown

Credit to New Milton, they really gave it their all and came out ontop

Dinton look forward to Welcoming Oakmeadians to the Rec for their final game of the season next Saturday!

This weeks Man of the match goes to our Number 8 Marcus Richard Thonner

As it seems he only plays his best when he's injured these days, he still managed to score 2 try's and last a full 80 when we needed him most!

Hope the trip to hospital was all good bud and well see you on the pitch again in 2 weeks 🤣🤣

Cheers Marcus šŸ‰ā¤ļøšŸ»

Dinton welcomed top of the league side Dorchester Rugby Club to the rec this weekend for a warm day of rugby!

After the last few run of games resulting in close losses, Dinton set out to give it there all this week and test the top side

Still with the absence of key players and the new faces to rugby arriving, Dinton faced their challenges, but in true barbarians style they weren’t going to let it pull them down

Dinton’s skipper Lewis Simmons won the toss and chose to play up the park for the first half, which meant Dorchester kicked off the procedures

The barbarians started off the game with a big defensive effort, as the powerful Dorchester side kept punching close to the try line but couldn’t quite get there

After not being able to get through the Dinton defence early on, they won a penalty and decided to take the points in front of the post

Dorchester regained possession and quickly made there way down there park, doing the same again, but unfortunately for Dinton they couldn’t hold out this time resulting in a couple of try’s for Dorchester

Scrum half Ben Combes took the kick off into Dorchester hands which was closely met by a Dinton shirt, the quick thinking barbarians reacted fast to turn the possession over and make their attack in the Dorchester half

After some strong attacking runs at the Dorchester line defence, number 8 Marcus Richard Thonner bowled his way over the line to get the first Dinton score of the day, which fly half Jordan King converted

After more attacking phases from both sides the first half came to an end, with the score line 13-7 to Dorchester

The second half was kicked off by scrum half Ben Combes, where Dinton looked to use the downhill advantage

Dorchester also were not looking to lie down just yet, with both sides playing some end to end rugby

With either side failing to find the line, this resulted in lots of scrummaging, where as Dinton had the lighter pack, they dominated every scrum, showing the barbarians power set which was keeping them in the game

It seemed that Dorchester had enough of the set pieces and had to utilise the pace in their back line, this was very effective and resulted in a Dorchester try and widening the points margin

But Dinton weren’t ready to give up just yet!

With Dinton turning up the gears, they battered their way down the park which resulted in number 8 Marcus getting his second and winger Tom Toroca breaking through a ruck on the 5 meter line to get his first try of the day

With the way Dinton were playing, a result was looking likely for the ba ba’s, but they just couldn’t get it through the hands and make it count

As the clock was ticking, Dorchester had one more effort up the park and scored in the corner, making the margin too big for Dinton achieve

But that didn’t stop Dinton with a driving maul from their own 22 to the opposite 22, this resulted in a Dinton penalty, which meant one last effort to get a bonus point

Dinton gave it their all after winning the line out, using pods to get close to the line, but unfortunately from the Captain Simmo the referee couldn’t see a clear grounding and made the decision held up

As the ref called his final whistle, it was fair to say that everyone of that pitch gave it their all and couldn’t complain with the result

25-17 win to Dorchester, hats off to the boys, there is a reason why they are at the top of the league table

Dinton look forward to another week off coming as they prepare to spoil their mothers on Mother’s Day and prepare for their last 2 games of the season!

This weeks man of the match goes to our number 10 Jordan King

After a few dodgy passes to the wingers and taking a few big hits, we felt that he ran the whole show, also grabbing himself two tries and a conversion to add to the tally!

Cheers JK, a pint is coming your way

Dinton travelled down to Ellingham And Ringwood Rugby Club on Saturday for a windy game of rugby!

After previously getting the win in the first fixture, the ba ba’s were looking forward to doing the same in the second fixture, but with growing absence of players it seemed difficult

Dinton’s skipper Lewis Simmons won the toss and chose to play into the wind for the first half, which meant Ellingham and Ringwood kicked off the procedures

The barbarians started off the game with real pace and intent, shortly after getting the first points on the board from our number 10 Jordan King, shipping through the Ringwood defence to place one in the corner

That was closely followed by number 9 Pete Compton who scored breaking away off the back of a driving maul

Ellingham and Ringwood knew they had to pick up there game if they wanted to stay within a chance, to which the replied with several forwards attacking phases to bundle their way over the line for their first score

That was closely followed by a quick thinking tap and go play from number 10 Jordan king to bowl his way over a flock of Ringwood players to score his second of the game

As the clock was ticking near the end of the first half, Ellingham thought back and managed to find a gap in Dinton’s defence and score in the corner, ending the first half 12-17 to Dinton

Dinton’s fly half Jordan king kicked off the second half now with the wind advantage hoping to continue the forward momentum

Unfortunately for Dinton Ellingham weren’t ready to lay down yet

After some attacking plays from both sides and lots of different set plays, Ringwood finally decided enough was enough, using the full width of their home pitch and scoring in the corner and converting to put them ahead for the first time in the match 19-17

Dinton looked like they were tired and started to switch off and with only one sub to come off the bench, they didn’t have many options to use

Somehow the barbarians managed to pull themselves together and use some forward phases to get themselves closer to Ringwood’s try line

Dinton’s scrum half Pete Compton, used his 9 like instincts to find a gap near the ruck to bag his second of the day, putting Dinton back in front 19-22

In the dying moments of the game, Dinton didn’t look like they could keep defending the pressing efforts that kept coming at them, which led to Ellingham and Ringwood grabbing the try to put the game to bed

Hats off to the Ellingham and Ringwood boys, they really put in good shift, it was a close and enjoyable game!

Dinton look forward to a well deserved rest next weekend, which we are sure every rugby fan will be watching Super Saturday of the six nations!

This weeks Man of the match goes to Michael Salter

This northern rock had to adapt to play fly half in this Saturday’s game šŸ¤¦šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø
After being used to the crash ball at 12, it came as a big surprise that he could use his feet to kick the ball, so much of a surprise that, after his first clearance he actually tore a muscle in his arse cheek šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

All jokes aside, the short-short wearing/rugby league softie had a cracker of a game, and really stepped up for the ba ba’s when they
Needed him most!

Cheers Mike, a dirty pint is pending.....

Dinton travelled to East Dorset RFC this saturday, with only a few more games till the end of the season

After a disappointing result last week, Dinton really needed to bounce back and get the win

Unfortunately in the run up to the game, lots of the BaBa's key players are injured or unable to play

Dinton travelled with just 16 players, 3 of which would be debuts for the club with very little experience, that being said, everyone was looking forward to get out there and play decent game of rugby

The captain Lewis Simmons won the toss, which resulted in East Dorset kicking off the game

After the first 10 minutes into the first half, it showed how close this game was going to be, with both sides putting in a hearty defence and attacking shift

East Dorset opened up the first score, utilising there large forward pack to work there way down the park, 2 meters at a time and eventually driving over the line

As Dinton weren't ready to let that happen again, they returned the favour, driving there forward pack up the park and eventually passing the ball out to the backs

The backs who were mostly playing out of position due to lack of numbers, created a gap to which centre Elliott Fox punched through to dive over the line

This was then converted by the prop Simmo to end the second half 5 - 7 to Dinton

Dinton kicked off the second half, where they started off with real pace, but just couldn't seem to hang onto the ball long enough to make it count

East Dorset gained their composure and started to fight back, using there well drilled line out mauls, which resulted in them getting another score on the board

At this point Dinton were starting to look tired and with nowhere to look on the bench, they knew they had to dig deep to see the game through

With East Dorset bringing on some fresh legs it was fair to see that Dinton had no choice but to play Rugby and just enjoy themselves

East Dorset put in some well drilled attacking moves and scored a couple more down the same wing, which the inexperienced couldn't battle alone.

The final whistle was blown with the score line ending 22-7 to East Dorset and Hats off to them, they were a better team on the day

But i can honestly say they every Dinton player on the pitch gave it their all for 80 minutes and walked off the pitch with a smile on their face

Also wanted to say a big thank you to the 3 Debutants to stepped up when we needed them most, to which all 3 put in a shift to be proud of -
Dan Syckelmoore
Josh Pinhorn
Pete Compton

It just goes to show that when times get tough and numbers are low, we're all here to play the game that we love and have a bloody good pint or 10 in the bar together afterwards

Dinton look forward to a well needed rest and regather next week, ready for our friends Salisbury RFC 3's to travel the short journey to the Rec on the 2nd of March

If you have played with Ben or know him, the chances are you’ll be aware of the terrible time he’s had recently

As the rugby community is so tightly connected, it really goes to show that when times get hard, we all support each other!

We’d like to say a big thank you to a fellow rugby player who has played against Ben for a number of years (Matt Hogarth) who plays for our good friends Wheatsheaf Cabin Crew for setting up a Just Giving page to help Ben on his journey to recovery

Ben has done so much for our sport and it’s nice to be able to give something back when he needs it most

Any donations are massively appreciated by Ben and the rest of us at Dinton RFC
