โญ๏ธ End of Summer BBQ 2026 โญ๏ธ

After a brilliant few days of Summer Camp, we rounded off the week with our End of Summer BBQ at Highland Farm Cafe! ๐ŸŽ‰

A huge thank you to Mascot Madness Entertainment for once again providing the rodeo bull, which kept everyone entertained all evening, while the burgers and hotdogs went down very well too! ๐Ÿคฉ

It was such a lovely way to finish the summer together. The kids had an absolute blast, and it was great to see swimmers of all ages, families and coaches mingling, laughing and enjoying themselves away from the pool.

And yesโ€ฆ Andrew did get back on the rodeo bull this year and, more importantly, beat his previous time ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ‚ (Keep your eyes peeled for the next postโ€ฆ ๐Ÿ‘€)

A fantastic end to the summer and now our attention turns to the 2026/27 season. Weโ€™re excited to get everyone back together, get stuck into training and see what the year ahead brings! ๐Ÿ’ฅ

Brilliant day at our Academy Skills Camp 2026 โญ๏ธ

Today it was the turn of our Academy swimmers, and what a fab day they had!

We started with land training, introducing swimmers to an adapted version of the pre-pool activation routines used by our older squads. The focus was on moving well, reacting quickly, holding good posture and understanding how the work we do before getting in the water can help us swim better once we are in it.

In our education session, we looked at what it means to train properly as a squad swimmer. We talked about effort, listening, lane etiquette and focusing on the things we can control. The big message was simple: Academy swimmers are not just learning how to swim, they are learning how to train.

We finished the day in the pool with a skills session covering Freestyle, Backstroke, a touch of Breaststroke and plenty of wall work. There was a big focus on proper streamlines, strong push-offs, kicking, body position and finishing all the way to the wall. We also spent time on turns, helping swimmers build confidence using the walls properly and carrying good skills into every length.

The swimmers were fantastic throughout. They listened well, worked hard, supported each other and showed a brilliant attitude across the whole day.

A huge well done to our Academy swimmers. Lots of skills learned, lots of confidence built, and a really positive step forward as young club swimmers.

Fantastic final day at Summer Camp 2026 โญ๏ธ

Our final day started in the classroom with a Race Ready Mindset session, looking at how swimmers can prepare for competition with more purpose and confidence. We explored visualisation, self-talk, race routines and how nerves do not have to be the enemy, they can be channelled into something useful when swimmers know how to focus and prepare.

We also spent time looking at leadership and the season ahead, with swimmers thinking about the standards, habits and behaviours we want to carry forward as a club.

We then headed into the hall for some team-building and reaction-based games, including Head It Catch It, Perimeter and, of course, our ever-famous wall sits, this time to Olivia Rodrigo, which went down very well! There was plenty of laughter, competitiveness and teamwork on show.

We finished camp in the pool with IM transitions, race skills and simulated racing. Swimmers broke down the key transitions between strokes, worked on speed into and out of the walls, and then linked everything back to our mindset session by setting their own process goals before racing.

A real highlight was the quality of reflection after each swim. Swimmers were challenged to review their performances with purpose: identifying what they executed well, what needed to be sharper, and what their next race focus should be. Hearing them give each other specific, constructive feedback showed exactly why this type of work matters, it helps them take ownership of their racing, not just their training.

It was a brilliant way to finish the camp: focused, competitive, supportive and full of energy.

Across the three days, our swimmers have worked incredibly hard, challenged themselves, supported each other and shown exactly what DASC is all about. It has been fantastic to see different squads mixing, younger swimmers stepping up, older swimmers leading by example, and everyone buying into the purpose of the camp.

A huge well done to every swimmer who took part. Lots learned, lots to be proud of, and plenty to carry into the season ahead. We cannot wait to see them take these standards back into training and racing.

Tomorrow, it is over to our Academy swimmers for their Junior Skills Camp, we are looking forward to another brilliant day at the pool.

Fantastic Day 2 at Summer Camp 2026 โญ๏ธ

Another brilliant day with plenty of hard work, laughter and a few very competitive moments along the way!

We started in the pool with Butterfly technique, focusing on rhythm, body movement and helping swimmers understand that good butterfly should feel connected and controlled, not forced. The emphasis was on moving forwards through the water, finding the timing of the stroke and staying relaxed enough to hold good shape ๐ŸŠโ€โ™€๏ธ

We then moved into land training, where swimmers spent time on prehab and pre-pool activation routines, looking at how posture, core control and good movement help prepare the body for better swimming. We finished with Boom Ball, which was every bit as competitive as expected and went down brilliantly! ๐Ÿคฉ

After lunch, our education session focused on nutrition, hydration and recovery. Swimmers looked at how to fuel for training and race day, what to pack, how to prepare properly, and worked through different scenarios to get them thinking about making sensible choices when it matters. ๐Ÿฑ

We finished the day with Breaststroke technique, focusing on forward movement, timing and holding a strong line in the water. A real highlight was seeing some of our older swimmers step up to demonstrate and coach our younger athletes through breaststroke pull outs. Brilliant leadership, teamwork and patience on show ๐ŸŠ

Across the day, we continued mixing lanes and groups so swimmers could work alongside athletes from different squads. It has been fantastic to see the camaraderie growing, with older and younger swimmers supporting each other, learning from each other and pushing each other on.

Two days in, and the swimmers continue to remind me just how hardworking, resilient and up for a challenge they are. There has been so much to be proud of already, and Iโ€™m looking forward to finishing camp strongly tomorrow ๐ŸŽ‰

Fantastic Day 1 at Summer Camp 2026 โญ๏ธ

Day one of Summer Camp has drawn to a close and what a brilliant start weโ€™ve had. The swimmers put in a fantastic shift across a busy day of pool work, land training and education, and there was a real sense of purpose from start to finish.

We started in the pool with Freestyle technique, focusing on building an efficient, connected stroke before asking for speed. The message was beautiful before powerful, learning to move well through the water, hold shape, and then apply pressure without the stroke falling apart ๐Ÿ’ฅ

We then headed into land training, delivered by Kara from Alness Leisure Centre where swimmers took part in a Pilates session, working on posture, core stability and strength, and making those important links between how we move on land and how we hold ourselves in the water.

After lunch, we moved into our education session, looking at technical ownership, perspective and goal setting. We spoke about training with intent, learning from feedback, setting clear targets and remembering that one bad set, race or session does not define who they are as swimmers or people.

We finished the day back in the pool with Backstroke technique, building on the same principles from the morning: connection through the stroke, control through the body and carrying speed in and out of the walls. The swimmers were challenged to hold their quality as the work became faster and more demanding, and they responded really well ๐ŸŠ

A special mention has to go to our younger swimmers, who were absolutely fantastic today. They showed real confidence, effort and maturity throughout the day, and it was brilliant to see them challenging themselves alongside our more senior swimmers.

It was great to see swimmers from different squads mixing, supporting each other and working together. Some of our older swimmers really stepped up too, showing leadership, setting standards and helping create the kind of training environment we want to see.

A really positive start to Summer Camp 2026. Lots learned, lots to build on, and plenty more to come on Day 2 ๐ŸŽ‰
