As a martial arts instructor, it always amuses me how everyone knows a child must practice reading every day for 15 - 20 minutes to become good at it. The same goes for any other school related teaching.

However, take the subject of learning to play an instrument, gymnastics, or , and suddenly many request 1 session per week. Reality is, your child needs minimum of 3 sessions to actually progress but an instructor can not put them on due to costs involved unless people start to allocated 10% - 20% (in Oxfordshire) off minimum wage for child's sport activities. It sounds a lot, however, if you choose a professional coach, who has in-depth understanding of children physiology and psychology, your child will thrive and become a specialist in the chosen sport. Your child will not just learn the sport but also correct form of exercise to minimise the risk of injury.

Please fans and all parents, choose your child's activity carefully and do some research to find out what's appropriate and what's not for your child's age. Check if your child's coach is correcting your child's technique for exercises according yo your childs development or letting your child to perform them incorrectly.
