Reduced price drinks from kick-off until the first goal🍺🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Didcot Town will be having a drinks promotion during England's opening group game at this summer's World Cup finals.

🍺As long as you are in the club drinking any of our draught Guinness, lager or cider an hour before kick-off at full price, you will then be included in our promotion during the game. The club will be open from 7pm.

🍺Prices will then be reduced to the following until the first goal is scored in the game by either team:

Midfielder Sam Barder will not be returning to the club next season after committing his future to Wantage Town.

The midfielder spent much of last season on a dual registration deal at Wantage, where he helped them reach the play-offs.

Sam departs after 290 appearances for the railwaymen, playing a big part in the club's play-off promotion in 2023.

He will be fondly remembered by everyone at the club, for his larger than life personality, and someone a club always needs both on and off the pitch, something manager Jamie Heapy reflected on when he sent his best wishes to Sam.

"It’s difficult to put into words the impact that Bards has had on this football club.

"To make nearly 300 appearances is a remarkable achievement in modern football and is a reflection of his commitment, loyalty and character.

"He has been a fantastic servant to Didcot Town FC and someone who has consistently given everything for the badge.

"From a personal perspective, he is a player and a person I have the utmost respect for. Since I’ve been manager at the club, he has been an integral part of the team, a true team player, and one of my leaders within the dressing room. He has always put the club and the team first, setting standards every day through his professionalism, attitude and desire to help those around him.

"Players come and go, but people who leave a lasting mark on a football club are much rarer. Bards is certainly one of those people. His contribution on and off the pitch has been immense, and he has played a huge role in helping drive the standards and culture we want at this football club.

"On behalf of myself and everyone at Didcot Town FC, I would like to thank him for everything he has given to the club and wish him and his family every success and happiness for the future."

One memory that will last long in the memory for those of us fortunate to be there that day was his absolute belter of a goal at Salisbury.

There was more success for our youth teams at tournaments this weekend.

The club had wins at three different venues in Berkshire and Oxfordshire, spreading the Didcot Town name.

The under-9 Reds and under-14 Reds enjoyed success at the EC7 tournament in Newbury, as they both won the main cup. A mention to first-team defender Cam McNeill, who is a coach with the under-9 Reds.

The under-15s took two teams to Basingstoke, with both tasting success in the plate and the shield.

Locally, a number of our teams went to the Harwell and Hendred tournament. The under-9 Whites won the main cup, whilst the under-13s narrowly lost out in the final of the main cup.

It's now just under two weeks away until the first team return to training and Didcot Town will once again host an open training session for supporters to come along and watch.

It's an opportunity to take a first look at the players, the new pitch and also find out the plans at the club for the next twelve months.

The squad returns on Saturday, 27th June, with the session starting at 10.30am.

After training, we will once again host a Q&A session in the bar with manager Jamie Heapy and club treasurer Justin Lambourne.

We will also be holding our 1907 draw for June.

Everyone is welcome to attend the morning as we welcome everyone back ahead of the 2026/27 season.
