2025 season over and out!
Had a decent last meeting at Skegness without any top 10's but had some decent pace at times and tried something different with the brakes in the heat and final which seemed to suit Andrew more. Final ended early with a flat inside rear and yet again damage to that corner of back bumper.

Looking ahead we will do some work on the car over the winter, got a new rear axle coming from TMR as this one likes to leak! Not gonna do much more tbh, we will tidy it up and hopefully it will be ready for the end of February but we will see what happens when the season comes round as to what we are going to do meeting wise

Buxton 25th August
Heat 1 - 11th
Heat 2 - 11th
Final - 8th
National - 7th

Steady day picking up a few points. Just struggling with the braking, couldn't brake as late as others without the back end stepping out. Can see the loss in lap time under braking so it's something we need to try and improve on.

Got a break now before our next outing which will be at Skegness on the 4th October, in fact we have only got a couple more meetings before the end of the season

Buxton last Sunday
Arrived in a misty wet pits that was shall we say full! When we did get somewhere to park and was told to park there we then got told to unhitch the trailer and move the van, too many formulas again with not enough space. We had already decided we wasn't going to do the National as it was race 22 and last of the day which was going to be a long day!
Race 1 - track was wet but was probably gonna dry out but we went with wet tyres as we knew it would be good early on and didn't think it would dry enough. Got a good start but an early yellow and a long stoppage to check a driver over meant the track dried a fair bit. A good restart and pulled a gap early but some blues and reds were not far behind, decent enough pace though and came home 8th. Car started to slide about at the rear and blue smoke coming out of outside rear was a worry though.
Back in the pits and axle was covered in oil. We had a very small leak but the big hit at Skegness obviously made it worse. Got it welded up where we thought it was coming from ready for heat 2.
Race 2 - dry track and steady race, was around 10th on last corner but got hit in a last corner sort out and it jumped out of gear so finished outside top 10.
Back in the pits and the axle was again covered in oil and inside corner of rear bumper was very bent again.
It was already over 4 hours into the meeting so combined with not wanting to risk any more issues with the axle we loaded up and came home.

We really need a new axle but it will have to wait until we save up at the end of the season, but for now we will repair it ready for the next meeting

Had plenty to repair from the Skegness weekend, lots of cutting and welding later and the car is ready for Buxton tomorrow. See if we can get some results round there, seems to go a lot better since they altered the corners and more enjoyable to race round.

Wow! What a weekend! Skegness Raceway - stadium UK speed weekend always delivers.
But what a weekend for us! Not even sure how to put it into words really so this will be a long post with lots of waffle 😂.
To say we run on a budget is probably an understatement! £100 a month on the car is an expensive one for us, the chassis is probably one of the oldest out there and we just make do with what we have, there's a set of pads on the front that have been in for 2 years probably.
So for us to gain enough points and qualify straight to the final on Saturday was more than we expected but then to get onto the grid for the UK Championship on Sunday with a 3rd in the consolation just means so much to us. It might seem much but the way Andrew celebrated going over the line in 3rd showed how much it meant to him. We have struggled so much over the last 18 months and finally all the hours David has put in on the car, the many shakes of the head when it just didn't go right have got the car probably as far as we can get it on the budget we have.
Yes we would love to upgrade the chassis, brakes etc but we are happy to just get out there and enjoy ourselves and when we achieve things like this weekend it just means so much more.

A quick rundown of our races over the weekend.
1st heat - got away well and the yellows came out, Andrew being the leader controls a slow rolling lap until the 2 yellows behind just went past him half way down the back straight 🤷 much to our suprise they went green and Andrew fell down the order. Another yellow and on the restart the clutch bolt snapped so a DNF.
2nd Heat - a massive jump start from another White caught Andrew out slightly but he soon got into 2nd and kept good consistent pace to finish 7th and score enough points to get into the final
Final - got drawn last White top, got the bumper in 1st corner and into 3rd but yellows soon came out! No complete restart so single file restart and as expected he got put wide and shuffled down the order but drove well and mixed with the quicker cars to finish 14th.
Sunday heat - we changed the outside rear to save the better tyre and it just didn't handle as well so slipped down the order finishing 15th and not enough points to qualify for the final.
Consolation - got the bumper in straight away to get to the front and just drove consistent paced laps to keep out front until lap 11 when a red top caught him but rather than fight the place he sensibly let him thru and followed him and same when another red top him on lap 15 to cross the line in 3rd and put it on the back of the UK championship grid.
Final - nothing to lose in this, 1st start went well with him getting through the 1st corner pile up and gaining plenty of positions but a complete restart was needed. 2nd time didn't go as well but got through to 18th from 34th on the grid by the 3rd lap and yellow flags, restart was messy and Andrew got hit hard on the straight with bumpers caught and a flat rear tyre but also the ECU came out of its box and onto Andrew's knee! So a DNF in the end but we weren't bothered.
The car is definitely scarred from the weekend as expected and a fair few things to fix but it was worth it!😁

The best meeting of the year is here!
All loaded up and ready to go in the morning.
It's gonna be a warm one and I'm sure it'll be action packed on the track too

Buxton 22nd June
The weather forecast turned out to be spot on, greeted by rain which stopped as the meeting started and it re appeared as the meeting was finishing.
Not a big turn out as most were down south west chasing world qualifying points so 2 heats, final and GN for us.
Watched the end of practice and the track was wet so even though the rain had stopped we went with a wet set up for 1st heat. Wrong choice! The track had dried out quickly and would have got away with dry set up. Starting from White grade he got towards half way before the quicker guys reeled him in but from half way you could tell the rear was losing grip so struggled 2nd half of the race and just missed out on top 10.
2nd heat on dry set up was ok, caught around half way and then had a 4 car train push him wide but held onto finish 10th.
Final - slight alteration in set up. Didn't get away as well and got passed early on steadily lost places through the race and just lost top 10 finish on the last couple of laps.
GN - dry track at the start but then it started to rain and back end started to lose grip but after falling down to 10th half way he battled back eventually coming home 9th. As we loaded up we noticed the outside rear tyre was flat so could explain the rear end going loose.
Overall we were happy with the day, no damage and we had actually turned up to the track with the set up being good straight away and not chasing it all day. Lap time was consistent but could do with finding some time to make starting from the front really work.

Next up for us is the big weekender at Skegness, we had our booking confirmation this week so all systems go to get van and car ready for 12th and 13th July.

Skegness wall vs back bumper!
Last Saturday we went to Skegness hoping a few changes we had made were going to regain some of the pace we had been lacking last time at Skegness.
Thankfully it had worked and could actually fight for places again. The Yellow flags weren't in our favor though. Heat was going well until yellows came out then got shuffled back and didn't qualify for final. Changed the outside rear tyre to get a bit more grip in consolation and from pole he got away and had a decent lead at the half way stage until the yellows came out. Lost a couple of places on the restart but had enough pace to finish 7th and qualify for the final.
Final didn't go too well, think the track had oil on it as the car was randomly getting loose and Andrew slipped down the order until a big snap of oversteer coming out of turn 4 saw the rear hit the fence and ripped the wheel guard and bumper! This side of the rear bumper was ok before this 🤦
That was the end of the night but we are happy that the setup is where we want ready for the big weekender in July at Skegness.
Next meeting for us will be at Buxton on the 22nd June
