We will be here back at the Nash with cold drinks waiting for you - we will have the England game on all screens throughout the club. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

☘️☘️ The dates, times and locations for Dewsbury Celtics, Round The Grounds Challenge for Simone, have been put together below, thank you to all the clubs that are welcoming us, we are looking forward to it. Please feel free to join us at any of the runs, we are asking you to run either 5km round a rugby pitch or if you can’t do that then 3 laps of a rugby pitch. If you can’t join us on one of the below events, then please partake in a pitch where you can complete and tag us in a video or photo on socials. Thank you for your support!

☘️☘️Dewsbury Celtic was very sad to hear of the recent death of David Diskin, David was heavily involved as a coach and committee man in the early years of St John Fisher's Old Boys junior rugby league club in the 80s and 90s. He played a huge part in the development of many youngsters, who went on to play professional rugby league or represent Dewsbury Celtic and other local teams. David is remembered as an enthusiastic force who shaped generations of young players. His energy on the touchline, his belief in every child who pulled on a rugby shirt, and his unwavering commitment to grassroots rugby made him a figure people gravitated toward. Those who worked alongside him, often spoke of his dedicated approach and the countless hours spent nurturing both skill and confidence. For David, coaching was never just about the sport and results, it was about building character, belonging and pride.

To the families, players and volunteers who knew him, David was profoundly supportive, the kind of coach who noticed when someone needed encouragement and always found the right words. His influence stretched far beyond match days, leaving a legacy of resilience, camaraderie and kindness within the club he loved. He continued to be heavily involved in the local community and along with his wife Teresa, owned and ran the Beer Street Pub in Westtown for the last 28 years.
Many people will feel his absence deeply, but his impact endures in every player he inspired and every life he touched. David will be remembered with great affection and respect. All at Dewsbury Celtic would like to pass on our sincere condolences to Teresa, John, Mark, Michael and all the family.☘️☘️

☘️☘️We’ve been blown away already with the support shown to Simone and the club in the last 24hrs, proving once again that rugby league is a community like no other. Our Round the Grounds for Simone Challenge starts on Monday at Batley Bulldogs RLFC, we are looking forward to it, please feel free to come and join us to run 5km with the team or 3 laps of the pitch. If you can’t make it, but want to join in the challenge please either run 5km or 3 laps of your pitch for Simone at your club and share it on social media with us!!
